Tech Day and BBQ

Sunday 12th July 2015

Following on from the success of last yearís Tech Day at this new venue, where we all enjoyed the day basking in glorious sunshine, our intrepid planners convinced me to repeat the event again this year.

Unfortunately the summer so far hasnít been as kind to us with what seems like rain and low temperatures every other day. Undaunted as they say ďThe Show Must Go OnĒ so with the garage cleared of clutter, the BBQ rolled out, the gazebo erected and the club flag flying we were ready to go again.

Bang on time the convoy of cars arrived at the venue from the meeting point at Tillicoultry. Itís always great to see new faces and this was no exception with Alan & Julie, Gary & Lorraine and Bill attending their first club event, we all hope you enjoyed the day and hopefully weíll see you all again at another event soon.

One of the best things about MX-5 ownership is that the cars are so reliable, this does make the tech day easy. One after the other the cars rolled into the garage to be lifted up into the air for some underbody probing and some technical advice for the less knowledgeable owners.

The only actual work that was carried out was to repair the faulty heated rear window connection on Billís hardtop. Bill has recently bought his very nice 10th Anniversary Mk2 and like many has been smitten with driving his new toy. After some slight modifications and soldering the roof was ready to put back onto the car. All went well until the time came to make the final connection only to find that the roof was from a Mk1 and the connecting plugs are different to the Mk2ís. This is the part you need Bill, don't like the price though.

Meanwhile the ladies settled themselves into the gazebo and made themselves comfortable protected from the cold wind by the heat from the log burning fire pit, this is supposed to be summer!

The gold star of the day has to go to Jim, with 30 hungry mouths to feed he did a sterling job perfectly cooking the burgers, sausages, chicken etc. on the BBQ.

All in all another successful event, we hope you all had an enjoyable day and hopefully a beneficial one.

Special thanks to Jim the chef, Marshall and Iain for their technical help and last but by no means least Alison and Jacqueline for looking after everyone so well.

Hi there.  We have often viewed your activities on your website as we have owned two Mx5\\\'s for the past eight years and had always intended getting in touch to enquire if we could join you on some of your outings.Could we possibly join you next weekend on the Cowal Run?? If it\\\'s of any interest we noticed someone looking for an electrical cable for their Mk 2 hood.  We have one spare and could bring it along with us. Looking forward to hearing from you.
