June Pub Meet and Mini Run

The Pirnhall Inn
Glasgow Road
Whins of Milton

Thursday 5th June 2014

With summer finally here, what better way to celebrate than to gather together thirteen MX-5ís and twenty four members for some food, drinks and an evening drive.

Well thatís just what we did for this monthís pub night. We all gathered at The Pirnhall Inn in Stirling where we enjoyed catching up with each other whilst enjoying the buffet curry. It was nice to meet up with Sheena and Ronnie who werenít able to join us on the run, perhaps next time. Once we were all fed and watered we headed to the cars full of anticipation of a fun run in the evening sunshine.

Tops down, we headed off on the planned route towards the lovely twisting road beside the North Third Reservoir. Well that was the plan! Unfortunately, I made a big mistake when making up the route itinerary and instead, Mr TomTom decided to take us to the Cultenhove Dam. Well this road may be OK for Land Rovers but definitely not for lowered MX-5ís. Luckily we managed to find a spot where we were all able to turn round and head back to terra firma. With a short unplanned detour through the outskirts of Stirling we reached Cambusbarron and back onto the intended route. Even seasoned run planners like me can get it wrong sometimes; my apologies go out to everyone, especially Sandi and David in their stunning brand new Venture.

With us all now back to proper MX-5 roads we were able to enjoy a spirited drive to the Carron Valley via Thornhill and Fintry. After driving alongside the reservoir, the 40 mile round trip ended back at the Pirnhall Inn.

Apart from the unplanned off road section, we all enjoyed another excellent evening.
