Christmas Lunch

It must as they say be a sign of getting old, but it just does not seem like a year has gone by since we last all sat down to Christmas lunch at the River House Restaurant on the outskirts of Stirling.
A record turn out this year with twenty six cars and fifty people all enjoying the central location. The restaurant is unique in its design, in that it looks like individual Crannogs on a loch side setting but when inside is very open plan and airy. Our party were seated at five large tables screened off from the rest of the diners and yet had sufficient room to move about after the meal without offending anyone.
The meal was first class in my opinion and everyone else seemed to back this up with the enthusiastic comments made later. After desserts it was time for Mino and I to don the red and white hats and distribute the presents from the 'Secret Santa Sacks.' This year we also decided to hold a christmas raffle and with over forty prizes donated by members, was a huge success, many thanks to all for that. After the wrapping paper was collected up we chatted a bit over our coffee, then it was time to head for home... and home was quite far for some, it was very pleasing to see first Scottish event members Moira & Chris who had travelled down from Tomintoul.
The River House has turned out to be one of the best locations in all respects for Christmas lunch and one which I'm sure all would be happy to use again, excellent food, professional service, beautiful surroundings, brilliant location and all that coupled with the warm and friendly company of our members made for a fantastic day.
Mino and I would like to thank everyone for attending this event and wish you and your families a Merry Christmas.

Douglas.
