Pitlochry Recce Run

Sunday 7th April 2013

Despite a really dreich Scottish day complete with falling snow we still had our run out today.

Five Mx's were ready for the off at Tesco's, 4 Tayside cars, 1 new member Richard and his daughter and 1 from Central (welcome David). we left on time (a change for us !!) and drove up to Coupar Angus where we met up with another 3 Taysiders, 1 new member and his wife Richard and Kaydance.

Again we were on our way to Blairgowrie where we picked up a Grampian member, Richard and son Finlay.

Then it was up (in the snow) via Ballintium, Moulin Moors to Pitlochry, where we stopped at our usual hostelry, Mackays for lunch and a blether. Somewhere en route we lost Peter and Denise ( they stopped for a comfort break but didn't flash their lights to let anyone know what was happening, know the next time).

After lunch we drove back via Aberfeldy, Tochry to Dunkeld where we stopped at the Tay bank Hotel for another drink and a blether and low and behold Peter and Denise arrived!! all back together again.

Some left to make their own way home and the others left after the drinks, cokes and coffee to head back to Dundee.
Dave left to head to Perth, Gavin left at Meigle, then Alex at Auchterhouse and finally Peter and Denise in Dundee.

So despite our Scottish weather we still had a great day out and I look forward to many more of the same.

Thanks to all who attended.

Hi all.
Thanks for the run today.....sorry for getting lost!. The good news is we had a lovely run around the Rally route and we were very impressed. The route and scenery are first class, I can't imagine there's anything better anywhere. The drive over Schallion is amazing. visitors to Pitlochry are in for a real treat in May. So pleased we managed to get back to the group in the end. Well done Alec for doing the run home with the top down in the snow!

A seriously miserable day made brighter by still managing to get out in the car and have a blast and nice blether with new and old friends. If we can enjoy ourselves when it snows all day, it's looking good for when the better weather kicks in. Don't know if I'm being naive or optimistic.
