[ show event report ]

Sunday 3rd November 2013

For 2013 it has been decided that in the Winter months The Hi-5s would meet on the Sunday for lunch rather than risk the bad weather and dark nights. A short local run would be arranged prior to lunch.

We meet at the NEWTON HOTEL, Inverness Road, Nairn, IV12 4RX.
For further details about the hotel Click here

As in 2012, please note that the venue may change occasionally in order to allow us to visit the "outlying regions")!

The meeting proper will start at 14:30hrs but we will be having a bar lunch before the meeting.  If you'd like to join us for eats then please arrive around 13:00hrs -(depending on run arrangements).

There is no formal agenda, we get together to socialise and chat about cars - MX5 cars, holidays, the weather or anything else that takes our fancy.  Details of future runs may be given out / planned.

Members and prospective members are most welcome.  Please post in the comment box below if you wish to attend - especially if you plan eating!!!

Details to follow!!

10am departure from DFS carpark to Dores and cross country to the Newton

Attending so far: 8 CARS!!

You can't have too many bacon butties on a sunday morning :)
The route from Farr to Tomatin was new roads for me as well.  I will have to revisit these when it is a bit drier.
Thanks to FAB from me too.

The road from Farr to Garbole used to be coloured white on the OS map and was gated at the Garbole end.  Presumably it has been upgraded a bit and is no longer gated?

There is still a gate there, but there is also a cattle-grid beside it to avoid having to stop to open and close the gate. Great wee road, wee being the operative word, they don't come much narrower do they!

Frankie, thanks for the update about Garbole.  I think it may have been a private road in the dim and distant as it was used as a special stage on a rally (possibly the Scottish) many years ago.  Now being coloured yellow on the OS map, it would infer it had been adopted by HCC. Haven't been over it for years but I will make a point of using it next year sometime!
