Spring Rally held at Margam Park, South Wales.

Latest news from Margam...

Here are a few last minute details for this weekend's Rally.

Rally website: www.mx-5.org/south-wales/spring05

THEMED DRIVES
We will be providing route notes for the three themed drive to those who
come along on Saturday, but some of you have asked for advance copies.
So particularly if your hotel is in the Swansea area you may want to take a
look in case you end up driving back towards your hotel for the first part
of your drive. Or maybe, you just want to take a look.
Click on our rally website and follow the link either from the main page or
under the Saturday events section.

THE GREAT GAMBO RACE
The race is still on at 1pm, but we've extended to follow the FIA Grand Prix
format!
From 11am to 12noon there will be an open practise session for the teams to
test and hone the machines to their peak performance. Then from 12noon until
1pm there will be a series of timed qualifying runs, the results of which
will be displayed on the high-tech display system near the start line. Then
at 1pm it's the big race with all gambos lined up for the break-neck (!!)
run to the finish line.

SUNDAY DINING
There are three main options for food on Sunday.
1. The park has a cafeteria with hot and cold food and drinks.
2. The "Man with the Golden Wellies", better known as the owner of the Glam
Lamb company will be selling high quality, home reared Lamb in the form of
burgers or Lamb steaks with accompaniment.
3. You could picnic at the park.

TAKE HOME THE TASTE OF WALES
The Man with the Golden Wellies has asked us to let you know that he will be
selling his products for you top take away and enjoy at home. So if you
think you might be interested in that, bring a cool bag along (or buy one of
ours!!)

MERCHANDISE AND THE NEW LOGO
Those of you who are coming to Saturday Night's Twmpath will be able to
enjoy our Fashion Show where you can see many of the items in our brand new
Merchandise range featuring the new club logo.
On Sunday, Michelle and her band of helpers will be able to take orders for
any merchandise items you fancy.

There will also be the absolute last opportunity to buy the remainder of the
current range at crazy knock-down prices.

ASK THE DOCTOR
Not listed on the timetable as published, but Doctor Bob will be hosting two
40minute technical question and answer sessions in our show arena, so listen
out for the announcements.

WHO, WHERE, WHEN, WHY WHAT?
Each of our Rally helpers will be wearing very fetching bright Red Caps
featuring the new club logo. So if you have any problems or questions, "Ask
a Redcap"!!

WEATHER
Forecast looks reasonable for Sunday at the moment, but we are keeping our
fingers firmly crossed.

Looking forward to seeing you all at the weekend,

Your Spring Rally Organising Team

1140 miles over three days including the Gower Run on Saturday, every one of them top down.

Daviel, zoom-zoom and I joind the Northampton "Crew" for a run along the South Wales Coast via Swansea Bay, Mumbles Pier, The Gower and along to The Worms Head.

Sunday brought fine weather and a great Spring Rally, lots to see and spend your money on.

The Gambo Race saw our old frienf Niel's team from the Yorkshire Ridings pipped by 0.1 of a second by the Cornwall team to win in a time of 12.6 seconds, personally though I think there should have been a stewards enquiry, as there was no way the Cornish Gambo was transported to the event in 5's.

All in all a great weekend and although there did not appear to be a lot of the local members there you could hear plenty of Scots accents, many of whom are ex pat 5 owners from other regions.

Just returned from our little jaunt. South Wales was great, nice to see some old friends, and new ones! After rally returned to Edinburgh at a slower pace via Alton Towers, Blackpool and Yorkshire! Hope to be out on a central run soon. Jon
