This year's Borders Run was to start at Innerleithen but on the recce we discovered the annual Borders Walking Festival is in and around Innerleithen and starts on 1st September. Time to rethink start so Peebles is now the meeting point.

Although we are doing some roads included in past years runs, we are approaching from a different route in most cases and hope to give you a different perspective of the Borders and the surrounding hills. Part of the morning route takes us over Scott's View of the Eildon Hills (which will be seen from all angles on the route) and we hope to stop there for a few minutes. We will also have views of other hills such as Ruberslaw, Big Cheviot and the Cheviot Hills as well as monuments such as the Waterloo Memorial at Penielheugh.

Lunch will again be at The Carters Rest, where we had a most enjoyable lunch last year. Menu will be posted as soon as possible and, as before, orders will be taken before we leave Peebles.

The Carters Rest

Freshly prepared soup of the day with a crusty roll
Chefs smooth chicken liver pate served with homemade red onion marmalade and Scottish oatcakes
Freshly breaded Eyemouth haddock served with homemade tartare sauce
Homemade beef steak, button mushroom and ale pie
Char-grilled loin of Scottish pork finished with a grain mustard and bacon cream
Button mushroom and red pepper stroganoff accompanied with a timbale of basmati rice
Baileys cheesecake
Mixed dairy ice creams

2 course 13.00
3 course 15.95

Coffee/tea 1.50 per person

After lunch, we have a great cross country run using part of the Roman road, Dere Street, finishing at Carfraemill, which will be open for hot & cold drinks and toilets.

Any late cancellations or hold-ups, contact 07745 557 971.
