Sun 12th Jun 2005
organised by Central Scotland

Car Count : 22
[ show pre-run info ]

Twenty cars met up at Eskbank and wound their way through some wonderful scenery and unusually quiet roads, we picked up one car en-route and one more joined us at Holy Island.
Unfortunately we did not get the chance to stop and bedeck the cars with flags and tartan this year, but once parked up we soon dressed the cars with Scottish regalia. A nice warm and friendly welcome greeted our arrival, from all our friends from Tyne Tees and before long we were helping to erect the Gazebo and light the BBQ's. A very pleasant lunch spent amongst friends was followed by both Central Scotlands and Tyne Tees raffle,s where Willie from Central Scotland won the star prize of a Mazda fleece Jacket.
It was now time for the big match Scotland v England at Rounders, the two teams were picked and after winning the toss Scotland started the batting and gained an impressive score before being bowled out, unfortunately that impressive score soon paled into insignificance because the English team soon surpassed it and won the match thanks to some of their new big hitters, the game itself was a great laugh and played with a lighthearted spirit... so we must try and take it more seriously next year.
Time was marching on and soon we had to leave in order to get across the causeway before the tide came in, we said farewell to our friends and set off for home.
Another excellent day out with Central Scotland and great to see such a large turnout with many new faces on their first run with the Club.

My first run with the club and was impressed with the turn out. being the youngest driver there i slightly felt out of place but was welcomed well by other members.

My first run with the club too. I was the one you picked up near the sumit of Soutra. Sorry, I had to leave early but my passenger was keen to meet the family.

Congratulations on an excellent meet.  Well organised, brilliant day out.  Still feeling the effects of the rounders match!

Nigel & Stella...Glad someone else is feeling the pain too, you both served Central Scotland well, thanks to all our team who will have suffered for their efforts today. Hope John who was at the last base is ok.

Another wonderful meeting with our friends from North of the Border. Lighthearted and freindly banter so it didn't really matter who won. Our secret weapon, 9 year old Jennifer had a whale of a time, who is going to tell a little girl she can't run, crafty or what? Looking forward to the rematch in 2006.
