Opening the blinds this morning didn’t fill me with glee for the days run ahead given that I couldn’t see the bottom of the garden due to another pea-souper. However, undeterred, we (Tom, Jen, Allie and myself) met up with our Dutch colleagues Henny and Henk and set off north, optimistically with hoods down. We headed through Alyth towards Blackwater Reservoir for a couple of photies. Very tranquil.
Soon we were off again towards Glenshee and another photo-op at the Devil’s Elbow. A first for me, past it many times but never stopped there. Onwards, and literally upwards we continued through Braemar and to the Victoria Restaurant at Dinnet for some lunch. Chicken and Sausage Pasta Bake and Sticky Toffee Pud recommended.

So, well fed and with the weather warming a little, we were off again to Banchory and down the Slug to Stonehaven, where we stopped at the waterfront for some pics. By this time the east coast “perma-mist” had taken hold and we decided to avoid the coastal route home and headed inland to Fettercairn, towards Glamis where we said our cheerios to Allie who headed home to Perth. Stopping briefly at Meigle, we were soon back at Dundee, returning Henny and Henk to their digs to rest before their Scottish Sojourn takes them to the Borders. All this with the tops down, as it should be for July, though to be honest, not necessarily this year.

Henny/Henk, hopefully you enjoyed the run, and that you take our word for it that there really was some excellent scenery behind all that fog.

Like you say Allie, a braw day out with new friends...with what has to be acceptable weather given what the summer has yielded so far. Just thinking, the Sticky Toffee pudding is beginning to wear off a bit...maybe time for a little light supper

Yup , another nice day out with our new Dutch friends,a right mix of a day, grey skies, sunshine (a little !!) and coastal fog, typical scottish weather,it di not prevent us from having the roofs down all day.
The food at the Victoria Resturant was fab and the chef Tommy was great too, reccomend to all, will go back again.
Many thanks to our photographer Mr Alex Henderson for his great shots and comments too.
