Pub Meet - Cumbernauld

The Red Deer
Auchenkilns Roundabout,
G68 9AT.

Thursday 5th July 2012

Well once again the Pub meet at Cumbernauld was a great success, meeting up with old and new faces. It was lovely to see Sue and Gordon at a west pub meet as they came to the Red Deer on their return journey from a short break heading home to the east of Edinburgh. Local lad Craig came for some advice on selling his MK1. However by the end of the evening he was having second thoughts, I think the boys were persuading him to sell his Porsche instead. It was lovely to meet Lauri also local, who has just bought her car and wanted to meet us prior to a run [hope we did not put you off.] It was great to see Heather & Chic after Chic’s illness and Ali & Drew after their Spanish tour with the MX5. Evan & Carol made it on time; however there ‘Tom Tom’ would have taken them in another direction again.  Good job ‘Carol Carol’ was with Evan to keep him right. Chris joined us too as he was near by, great to see him again.

Jim & Gavin were discussing further plans for the Gathering at Knockhill and more members were volunteering to come early on the day to set up [Alan have you told Rosie yet about the early start???]. You are stars; we can always rely on your assistance. It was good to see George again and the conversation changed to the Bo’ness Fair and his memories of the Arches and the procession. It was lovely to also meet Dave from Dunfermline, Ian & Christine from Cumbernauld for the first time, I hope that you enjoyed the evening and that we will see you again in the future. Poor Derek our waiter kept adding tables for our party as the numbers grew. He was fabulous with us. He told me as we kept growing the last time that is why he put us in the back room this time. [Not because we are a noisy bunch!!!].

Thank you again for making the effort to attend these Pub Nights which gives us all time to sit and relax, have good conversation and a laugh too.

We are looking forward to seeing you all at the Gathering. Remember if you have any unwanted, unopened Christmas presents we would love to have them for our Raffle. Please bring them along to the Gathering and give them to Janet.

See you all then
