First Homework assignment received!!

Hi Brian and Frankie,

What a brilliant weekend at Applecross.  The weather was just perfect for us after the awful weather we had all week, then Saturday was just perfect. I left Grantown hood down and it stayed down right until it was time for bed.
The trip was great, after leaving Inverness DFS car park first stop for coffee was Tarvie then on to Loch Carron where we had lunch and played musical cars to get photo's taken.  Then on to Applecross.  The drive up the pass was just great, again more photo's, this time with the flag flying, then straight down to the Pub.  Had a great afternoon, enjoyed every ones company, the food was just great. Margaret and Ken left us at the point of going back to my cottage for more drinks and talk about the day and of course MX5's!  Time to go to bed!!
Met up in the morning at the Walled Garden.  Again hoods down all the way home.  Great drive back.
Had a fantastic week-end - lets do it again next year.  Leave Friday, spend Saturday and Sunday there as suggested and take the hotel over for the 2 days.

All for now - Wendy

The homework is rolling in with Andy and Bev's essay!  9 1/2  out of 10 - not even Andy can get up the Bealach in 7.32 "seconds"!!

Our Applecross by Andy & Bev

Got off to a good  start on Saturday morning as we were all packed up and ready for the off  the night before , met up with the rest of the Hi 5s at the Loch Carron Hotel , we were a little later arriving for lunch so we just had coffee and cake . A quick photo of all the MXs with Loch Carron as the backdrop and we off up to the Bealach na Ba. We stopped at the bottom and set off up the pass at thirty second intervels allowing for a spirited ride up! (Luckily avoiding another Mazda  a bongo camper) ...complete with 7.32 seconds of HD video courtesy of Bevs frozen fingers!

We arrived at the campsite and both the ALS and us had our tents set up in no time, a quick freshen up and off down to the pub and a pint outside taking in the stunning view.... and food in the Applecross inn (thoroughly recommend the halibut.. thanks Wendy!) . After a few drinks in Wendy’s cottage it was back up the track to the campsite. A goodnight sleep was had apart from somebody in the Z4 camp giving it the ZZzzzzzz...s.

After a good breakfast and a litre of coffee we met at the Walled Gardens, we arrived early which allowed us time to enjoy the weather and look round the garden, another coffee and a natter it was off home via Shieldaig and Torridon , another spirited drive through breathtaking  scenery finally arriving at Foulis  Ferry  for a coffee ( and cake ) . A really enjoyable weekend from start to finish, we enjoyed it so much were going back, next time with a bigger tent!!
Thanks to everybody...

Andy & Bev

What a fantastic run to Applecross. Thanks to Als and to FAB for the organisation. Considering the week, what brilliant weather! Sorry we could not stop over but we had a brilliant run back with Jean and Greg followed by a nice meal in North Kessock. Thanks again.

Thank you Dave & Val, but i'm not sure that we can take any of the credit for what was a wonderful weekend. The real hero was Wendy - sorting out all the accomodation (for those who were too scared to camp) and for sorting out dinner.
A really enjoyable couple of days, lets make sure that we do it again next year perhaps for two nights?????

Margaret and I had a fantastic week-end as well Thanks to all for making it easier for us - our first away day with the MX5.  It has given us a wee taster for our 3/4 weeks with the car down in England.

It looks like they may need a bigger campsite next year never mind a bigger tent!!  A huge thanks to everyone who took part, both the Saturday trippers and the hard core week-enders.  Another great outing from the Hi-5s!!

Thanks to FAB and Als for organising a splendid drive. The unbelievable weather improvement certainly played a big part. The day got off to a great start with an exemplary lead drive by Al which enabled us all to enjoy our amazing MX5s.The food was good at both stops and of course the the Bealach is always a great drive as long as you get a clear run.Sorry we couldn't stay overnight but hopefully we will next year. We had a great run back with Dave and Val, ending with an excellent meal in the North Kessock Hotel. We would certainly like to see the Applecross run become an annual event. Thanks to every one.
