Notes following Pub Meeting - Hi-5s MX5OC – Mon 2nd April - Craigmonie Hotel
1. Well we managed to beat last months numbers with 18 members / prospective members in 12 cars.  Excellent turnout!  Several new members joined us.  We decided that as there was only one member not having dinner, we would remain in the dining room and continue the meeting there.  This worked well.
2. Apologies were given.
3. PR since last meeting.
a. Contact Dave Morgan re the error with the phone number in the Motors North supplement.
b. Article published in STHT about Highland & Moray new co-ordinators.
c. Article in the Scottish supplement to STHT about the Findhorn run.

4. Most of the meeting was spent going over the 2012 Calendar – an updated version is attached.
a. Our next event is the Cruachan Power Station Run on the 22nd April where we will join with the guys from Central.  We currently have 4 cars signed up for this.
b. Steve MacG pointed out that “Drive it Day” was being organised in Inverness on the same day, 22nd April, by the Highland Classic Motor Club.  This has now been added to the Calendar and the events page.  This is a run from Stadium Road, Inverness to Cromarty via Beauly.  Details on the website.
c. Those wishing to attend the Forres Theme day should contact FAB by Wednesday latest. (We now have 6 cars entered for this event).
d. The debate about whether to go the Applecross or Poolewe didn’t get started – the decision was unanimous – we’re going to Applecross!  Wendy kindly offered to make the arrangements for accommodation.  This can be done as a two day event or either a Saturday or a Sunday run.  Details on the website.  (Currently 8 cars with 5 staying over)
e. Shane couldn’t make the meeting but had put forward a couple of suggestions.  The first was that we should possibly have a couple of our summer “Monthly Mondays” as runs to a pub in another area.  This was felt to be a good idea with possibly something in the Elgin area and maybe one heading North.  Suggestions are required from the members.
f. Shane’s second suggestion was to try and arrange some form of “Tech Day” – it was felt that this didn’t have to be too “complex” – at least first time round.  More details to follow.
g. The Hi-5s events pages on MX5Scotland.co.uk have been updated and more detail is available there.  Please have a look at all the events and register your interest.
h. BR reminded everyone to try and use the MX5Scotland web site as this is where all our events are posted.  Everyone should try and register on the site.  BR would put out a “crib sheet” trying to explain how to do this – once he figures it out himself!  (The events pages have just had a major upgrade.  It is now possible to look at Highland and Moray events separately from the other “North” areas.  This makes it much easier to see what we have planned.  Remember you can attend any event in any area).

5. Garages / Discounts
a. Steven brought details of the Barnyard Body Shop in Beauly.  They can be contacted on 01467 782285 or 07703 594487 – Neil Finnie.  Steven will have a chat with him about possible club discount.
b. Since the meeting Doug has sent details regarding the guy who does alloy wheel refurb.  We’ve posted both addresses on the MX5Scotland forum under “Trusted North Garages”.
c. Frankie is looking at “updating” all other info relating to garages / discounts in our area and will report back to the next meeting.

6. Contact Details – IMPORTANT – It was agreed to circulate our contact details between members.  In order not to contravene the Data Protection Act we need your permission to do this.  Please email us confirming that you are happy to do this – no confirmation means no details will be released. Details include Town, email, home and mobile numbers.

Forgot to add - we all drove home in the snow - more like waltzing rather than driving - and that's after a week of 20+degrees!!  It's Scotland!!!
