Pub Meet - Cumbernauld

The Red Deer
Auchenkilns Roundabout,
G68 9AT.

Thursday 1st March 2012

Wow! What a fantastic night we had at the Red Deer.

The night began as Walter, Gavin, Jim and I travelled along the M8 from Bo’ness [no road works hooray!] and arrived at the Red Deer to receive a great welcome from the waiter. Although they did not receive our reservation request, within seconds we had a large table for us. Ian and Jacqueline from Linlithgow were there first to welcome Chris and Pamela from Cumbernauld. They are so excited as they are picking up their first MX-5 on Saturday. They came along on speck to meet us as they are thinking of joining the club. [Hope we did not put you off, just kidding as we are all a friendly bunch.]  The party kept getting bigger; Drew and Ali travelled from Dunfermline and Chris from Motherwell came to chat, as we were finishing of our meal [10 out of 10, superb meal]. As the plates were being cleared away, in came Evan and Carol after their 2½ hour travel from Ayr. Normally it takes 1½ hours but Evan enjoyed going around the roundabouts again and again. Poor souls they got lost.

After the meal the conversation ranged from cars, holidays, cats and dogs, I think everything under the sun. We were all shocked at the time as we were having such a good laugh. Once again we all said our good byes in the car park and waived off by the staff [not thrown out by the staff] making our way home discussing the evening events. We will definitely return to the Red Deer as a good time was had by all and I hope others from the west can join us there in a few months time.

We had an excellent night at the Red Deer, great food, great banter and great company. Good to meet Pamela and Steven at their first event hope you both enjoyed the evening.

It was brilliant to have the car back on the road again after what seems like very long winter hibernation.

Tops down summers just round the next corner yippeeeeeeeeeeeee 2012's looking good in our MX-5 world.
