Easterly Pub Meet

Thursday 19th January 2012

Craigmillar Park Golf Club
1 Observatory Road

Craigmillar Park Golf Club

The first Pub Night of 2012 looked as if it might have fallen foul of the winter weather as the first sight of snow fell in the afternoon but it did not lie, to our delight.

As this was the first time many of us had met up this year, it was wonderful to see so many handshakes, hugs and kisses and Happy New Year’s going around.

Following a drink or two and everyone catching up on all the news from the last couple of months, it was time for Dinner and what a Buffet was presented; Seafood Pie, Beef Stroganoff, Turmeric Rice, Pork Steak, Savoury Macaroni Cheese and to follow – Apple Crumble, Custard, a selection of individual sweets and Cheese and Biscuits. I think everyone agreed that this was the best meal we’ve ever had at Craigmillar, fantastic homemade food at a modest price of £10.

I noted the members who went up for seconds but they shall not be named. One person even wanted to lie down on the sofa for a sleep as he had eaten so much. After the meal we all returned to the soft seating reflecting on 2011 personal & Club events, everyone was also eagerly looking forward to the coming year ahead when we could get back in the MX5 with the roof down and the wind blowing through our hair [well some of us].

Ali and Drew being presernted with the Stevie Smith Trophy

We all parted for the night to go our separate ways but we all wished Gordon and Sue our best wishes on their 3 months adventure holiday in the Far East.
Yet another very successful event, our thanks go out to Sue & Gordon and all the staff at The Craigmillar Park Golf Course for making us all welcome once again. We hope to return again for our May 'Pub Night' to hear the tales of the weary travellers and sample more of the delights from the Chef.
