Taysiders run out
Sun 30th Oct 2011
organised by Tayside Scotland

Car Count : 7
[ show pre-run info ]

Well seven cars turned up at Tesco's in a dull by dry day, roofs were down except ours, ( My Mk1 had a flat battery !! so I had to take the Mk2 c/w hardtop) All were ready for the run,I handed out route maps and told all we were heading over the bridge into Fife.
Unfortunatly we lost Robert and Lesley, sorry folks, hope you did not have to spend too much on the shopping Robert !! Lol !!
I took the cars down the south side of the River Tay, usually very good roads however no one told the "Fifers" we were coming in nice clean, shiney Mx5's as we came out of Gauldry we were met by a section of roads the tracters were using !! it was nearly 200 feet of mud !! almost 4" deep !! crap !!
Anyway that was soon behind and we headed towards Perth, then once by there we drove past the beautifull "Meikleour Beech Hedges" looking fab in the autumn colours.
Then it was ,Balirgowrie, Meigle and then out to Glamis for lunch.
What can be said about the lunch at the Strathmore Arms" it was said by all there,Excellant,Fabulous,Superb plus many others, the portions were huge and quality too. We, Jen and I will be going back again.
Some of the sweets were unheard of and I tried the "Tunnock snowball tower" and fab it was too.
Once all us had paid our dues (very reasonable too !) we then went to the car park where we all said our goodbyes and went on our seperate ways to our homes.
Many thanks to Eddie & Joan plus Stuart who came down from Grampian,to Robert and Lesley from Central and of course to, Alice,Colin and Paul.

Hi there Tom, sorry about today, I lost you early into the run and couldn't catch up so decided just to go shopping instead. Hope you all had a great day, see you again some time! Robert and Lesley

On the way to the run my 99 MK2 hit 100K miles just north of Kirremuir.

We all had an excellent lunch at the Strathmore Inn at Glamis.

Great run again Tom and a great choice of lunch stop,

Hi Robert, dont know what happened there, thought that Colin was going to be tail end charlie !! he called me on the radio to say you were behind him but no place to stop on Kingsway. We stopped at south side at Taybridge carpark and waited 15 mins for you, then left on our run
