[ show pre-run info ]

Phew, what a day. Thanks temporary deputy deputy Malcolm for another fine run.

Up at sparrow fart and away to Tomintoul over the Lecht. Arguably a super time of day to drive as none of the usual Sunday drivers were out. Top down all the way with a mix of sun and cloud. I think we got to the Old Fire Station around 9.45. Bellies rumbling, I asked for a sausage softie to which the proprietor offered a frothy coffee. Much hilarity later I got a bacon buttie. You had to be there! On route we took in oft unseen view of Billy's gaff at Candacraig. This involved an unplanned venture to a dead end road, but it was affa bonny getting lost!

We were met by new peeps Frankie and Brian who belong in Highland region but popped along to suss us out. I think we passed as they stayed for breakfast.

After our lovely bacon softie's sans sausage, we headed along very lovely roads again back to Malcolm and Marty for a wee unexpected BBQ. Taking the Cabrach the other way for a change we enjoyed some spirited driving on quite quiet roads. Magic.

At "the sitooterie" we had burgers, sausages, chicken (doggie bags) salad and veggie things, "to die for" homemade lemon tart and plum icecream and whisky and honey icecream. All washed down with good company and banter.

A grand day oot indeed. Roll on the next one.

It's amazing how much fun you can have in the MX without exceeding the speed limit.  I know an 0800 start isn't for everyone but it certainly made for quiet roads.  Oh, and the wrong slot was simply a missed hairpin 'cos the cooncil hadn't cleared the white lines on the road!  Fortunately the No Through Road sign was only 200m beyond the hairpin.
Given the rain this morning, I'm glad the run was yesterday!
Good to have you all back for the BBQ.  I would have struggled to eat all the food without you!

Aye

Malcolm, you did very well putting that food together and it was a great surprise especially the pudding.

Must say I hardly knew any of those roads and only recognised the odd road junction.

A great day out!!!

I only dealt with the real food!  My good lady & Helen saw to the salads and the puddings!
