[ show event report ]

*** Updated to reflect event now on Saturday ***

Time to exercise those legs in the countryside, meet in Banchory and drive up the South Deeside road, leave the cars behind and head off for a mild yomp, bring a packed lunch.

The finer details are as follows, thanks to Malcolm and Marty:

Our next outing will combine a wee run with a wee walk!  We could perhaps meet up at, say, Westhill Tesco, and head out in convoy to the Keiloch.

The plan is to drive out to the Walkers’ Car Park at the Keiloch, a few hundred yards before the Invercauld Bridge which is 3 miles east of Braemar.  If you cross the Dee, you have gone too far!  There is a fee to use the car park, either £2.50 or £3 for the day.  We will then cross the road, meander alongside the river for a short distance before crossing the Dee by the old Invercauld Bridge and heading in to Ballochbuie Forest.  Our route in the forest will depend on weather but will probably be about 11km/12km in distance.

Boots are preferable but the route is largely on tracks and is suitable for trainers.  Waterproofs and food should be carried.  We will wander through the forest, visit the Garbh Allt Falls and have a bite to eat at the royal sitooterie before heading back to the cars and home.

So there you have it, a fine run "thats a walk" indeed!
