The Easter Weekend

Saturday 23rd to Monday 25th April
Meet at 09:30 for a 09:45 departure
The Car Park
For our 2011 Easter weekend we’ll be exploring one of the very best areas of Scotland in which to enjoy driving your MX-5, Coigach and Assynt.
This is a wild and beautiful stretch of Scotland, dominated by a handful of imposing mountains thrusting out alone from the cragged landscape: Cul Beag, Stac Pollaidh, Cul Moor, and Suilven.
Simply put, this is a breath taking place and absolutely worth visiting, whatever the weather.
Stac Pollaidh and Drumbeg
Road to Clachtoll and Ardvreck Castle
The weekend will begin with a day’s drive from Callander via Glencoe, Loch Alsh and Loch Carron to Ullapool.
Our accommodation for two nights will be at The Royal Hotel, Garve Road, Ullapool. IV26 2SY Tel: 01854 612181
The Royal Hotel
The Easter Sunday drive takes us deep into Assynt, passing through Lochinver, Clashnessie, Drumbeg and Kylesku. The magnificent mountain views of Stac Pollaidh, Suilven and Canisp are just a small sample of the stunning views and spectacular scenery we’ll encounter during the day.
This run will be shorter than usual which allows us to have more stops for photos, toilets etc. We intend to spend around an hour in Lochinver and another hour in Kylesku allowing plenty of time to explore and enjoy a quick coffee or light lunch. We will also have an Easter egg rolling competition with prizes being given for the best decorated egg and furthest rolled. So remember to bring your decorated hard-boiled egg along.
On Easter Monday our route will take us south via the Kessock Bridge and Cawdor to our lunch stop at The Garth Hotel, Granton on Spey.
After lunch we head over the famous Cock Bridge to Tomintoul road followed by the brilliant drive down Glenshee.
The end of the run will be at Broxden Services in Perth.
THIS EVENT IS NOW FULLY BOOKED.
We've also managed to negotiate a great deal with the hotel.
Dinner Bed and Breakfast in a balcony room overlooking Loch Broom for only £120.00 per couple per night.
A balcony room for single occupancy is £75 DB&B per night.
The normal rate is £115.00 for B&B, so dinner for two for an extra £5 sounds like a bargain to me.
A raffle will be held with the proceeds this year going to.
Samantha Dickson Brain Tumour Trust.
Donations of prizes are always welcome.

Fantastic run today, despite the rain. Tomorrow may be even better if the party animals along the corridor sober up in time.

I was so eggcited about the weekend and the egg competition. I didn't want to shell out too much money on decorating my egg. My brain was scrambled thinking about the decoration. I was so eggstatic when Sunday arrived. I didn't win a prize but I had an eggcellent weekend.( Maria has promised not to mention eggs till next Easter). We had a wonderful weekend. Thanks to Ian and Jacqueline for their hard work in making it happen.
