For this ever popular run we can all look forward to driving on some of Argyll’s best roads. When you include a great lunch venue and a cruise down the water it all adds up to a perfect MX-5 club summer day out.
The run will start at Loch Lomond Shores in Balloch, from there we’ll follow the shores of the loch for a few miles before heading over the hills to explore the Rosneath peninsula. Then driving through Arrochar we’ll climb to the top of the Rest and be Thankful and wind our way through "Hells Glen" to our lunch venue at Lochgoilhead.
This will be two courses, either:
Starter and Main or Main and Dessert
Chef’s tomato & red pepper soup with crusty bread
Chef’s cullen skink fish soup with crusty bread
Home made chicken liver & brandy paté with Jim’s amazing oatcakes
Prawn Marie Rose
Roast leg of lamb with roast potatoes, fresh vegetables of the day, gravy and mint sauce
Breast of chicken stuffed with haggis, wrapped in bacon and served with creamy whisky sauce, new potatoes and fresh vegetables of the day
Scottish salmon fillet with lemon butter, new potatoes and today’s selection of vegetables
Spicy vegetable fajita topped with melted cheese and served with crisp seasonal salad
Warm chocolate fudge cake with cream or ice-cream
Apple pie with cream, ice-cream or custard
Trio of Orkney ice-cream
After lunch we’ll head into the Cowal peninsula to Loch Eck and over the hills into Glen Finart and on to Ardentinny. Following the coast road we eventually arrive in Dunoon where we’ll cross the river Clyde on board the ferry to McInroy’s point in Gourock.
