The Fife Run with
a bit of Perth including diversion!!

Sunday 15th May 2011

Having tested the run route two weeks previous the sun shone and the larks could be heard singing away.  However dark clouds gathered on the Sunday morning and as the 5ís congregated, coated members huddled together for warmth.  Ross and Mo came over from the west and enjoyed the windy roads of Fife. We were also joined by a few new members, with one car flashing it eyelashes not a mark 1 but a mark 2 with eyelashes!!!

The start at Burntisland.

Off we went, through windy roads passing the Kinghorn Ecology Centre and under the Kissing Tree.  More windy roads were navigated passing Auchtertool, after a bit of twisting and turning a clear straight road let the convoy speed up. However the speed went to my head missing the turnoff to Scotlandwell, oops should have remembered the satnav with the recorded route. After a quick senior moment the right road was taken and we moved on towards Newburgh.

The drive to Tentsmuir Park.

With the River Tay now on our left a stunning view was taken in and a bit more twisting and turning was had. With nearly two hours on the road our destination was near and a few grumbling tummies could be heard along with engine noise!!!

Tentsmuir Park was well worth the drive, after parting with £2 per car the 5ís sneaked into the woodland like a pack of wolves and made an immediate impression.

A long drive deserves a cup of tea, so folding table, chairs and gas burners were flashed up under the cover of the areaís marquee.  The weather kept fine with a little sun shine to brighten things up which was good for a walk along the stunning beach.

Time for the picnic.

The roads were winding and the sky was clear and with a stiff breeze on the beautiful Tentsmuir Beach, a great day was had.  Everyone enjoyed the picnic.  Could this be a yearly event? Will happy to do this next year, although promise to bring the satnav!!!!!!

Had a lovely day. Good to see everyone and thanks to Marion and Graham for organising our day out. Ian's glad the rain stayed off and there are no crumbs or melted chocolate in the car this time LOL.

Good run.  Sedate pace suited our hangovers today.  Excellent roads, noted for future attack.  Picnic venue also noted for future use - so much to see & do!    Thanks to G&M for the organisation, and the wee mystery tour!  ;-)

Great fun and a big change for us. (We're very rarely over that way)
Must go more often. Must commend the ice cream in Milnathort. Delicious.
Water much colder than Ullapool.
Thanks to G&M but not to their satnav. Pity it missed the trip.

Good day out. Nice leisurely run home, stopping off at Anstruther for renowned fish and chips, yummy.  Good to meet some new faces too. Hope you'll join us again.
