Sunday Pub Lunch

At the Mill Inn,
Coulter Village,
Near Biggar.
ML12 6PZ

Sunday 2nd May 2010

With the sun shining and tops down the pair of silver Sport Tech’s headed off to Coulter for the first Sunday pub lunch event of the year. Following a spirited run on some fine twisty roads, we arrived safely at the Mill Inn, Coulter to be met by the rest of the gang sitting in the beer garden enjoying an aperitif in the midday sunshine.

A total of ten people met up, not knowing what to expect as this was a totally new venue for the club. What can I say other than we’ll definitely go back again. The “Skunk soup”, “Posh Prawns”, “Bambi Burgers”, “Rusty Chips” and “Giant Steaks” made sure we were all “flup”. Jacqueline’s flying cutlery was replaced rapidly (thanks to the attentive and entertaining staff) but not before making a mess of her sweater (nothing new there then). After that, a “safe zone” was created around her.

There was a scramble to devour the home made tablet that arrived with the tea and coffee, mainly by those who hadn’t ordered any. Thankfully the staff ensured there was enough for all.

After the leisurely lunch and banter, we all headed top down again for home, two cars towards Edinburgh, one to Galston and the last three to Linlithgow/Bo’ness. We were a small but very happy band.

Our thanks go out to Sue and Gordon for finding this gem in the countryside and for organising the day.

Just got back, Gordon managed to find some lovely roads for us and we had a spirited drive. Nice venue and food, and of course great company :-)

Grear lunch venue, well done Gordon, superb food and good company.I've driven past this place many times and never dreamed of stopping. It has to be a must for a future run. Good run down but not so good on way back with more trffic on the road. With half a coo in me I don't think I'll be eating until tomorrow, sometime.

A nice run down on roads only Gordon could find.(Pity about the Micra). A smashing lunch at another new venue and agree it has to be a stop in the future. Thanks to Gordon and Sue for the organising.
