NSS Road to the Gathering Run
Sun 20th Sep 2009
organised by Tayside Scotland

Car Count : 10
[ show pre-run info ]

Once again we got lucky with the weather as the NSS posse set off on the Road, the biggest representation we've had at this event. Malc, ever the maestro on navigating the twisties north of the A90, took us via his trademark Meikleour hedge to Dunkeld where a welcome wee or fag was a must for most. Neil, creating an Owners Club record for the most events ever attended as a non-member, then took the helm and guided us over the top road to Blairgowrie before cutting up to Glenshee; the trip was hazard-free and we even managed the rare event of encouraging a camper van to let us pass. Bang on schedule we lined up in front of the convoy of cars already at the hotel and hoisted our flag ... well, pegged out our banner. I'm pleased to report the change of management at the hotel has only enhanced the experience there, even if Colin couldn't believe his luck in having £20 left over, only to have it wrenched out of his grasp as the staff had totalled the bill wrong. We were pleased to hand our raffle money over to the Help for Heroes Appeal; thanks must go to all those who brought a prize and/or bought some tickets, and at least one of our number will have had an memorable evening's pleasure with the first prize sheep and some car shampoo. Malc brought us back home via the increasingly familiar Glenisla road, familar yet one of the best and most life-affirming routes in the region. Many thanks to all those from all areas whose camaraderie made this another excellent event ... and got me out of mowing the lawn.

Good to see everyone again, pity we couldn't take part in the runs but the great company made up for that loss. Great to see so many areas represented.

Thank you Colin. While only there for the lunch stop it was good to see the sparkly 3.5's in the line up. Great to catch up with Chic, and others from my first run and finally meet up with Colin.

Another thoroughly enjoyable day out. Well organised Colin. Roads, chat, food and weather faultless, and nice to meet our southern cousins.
