Dutch Roadster Club Visit
Sun 13th May 2007
organised by Central Scotland

Car Count : 5
[ show pre-run info ]

With tops down Colin and ourselves set off from Scotts garden centre across the Clyde valley to join the B7078 for a blast down the old road south. Even my best efforts to confuse Colin by going round a roundabout twice to check the exit and still getting it wrong  did not deter us. With the wind in our hair (ok, Margaret's hair)  we were prompted to think why would anyone choose a busy motorway when there are B roads of this quality.
We pulled into our car park meeting point at Langholm to discover it had been taken over by a funfair leaving only 5 spaces. We were joined by Jon and friend Ron and following a picnic lunch we left our surreal setting of 4 MX5s parked amid waltzers and a haunted house to tag on to a mixed group of roadsters for the journey through Eskdalemuir forest. The rain that had been threatening all morning finally forced us to put the hoods up. A stop at the Gordon Arms gave us the chance to meet members of the Dutch club and catch up with Murtagh who had left earlier. I don't think the pub car park had ever boasted such a spectacular or expensive collection of cars. Soon it was time to set off on one of our favourite routes past the Meggat and Talla reservoirs with the sun trying to break through a cloudy sky. After a drive though the Clyde valley the Dutch set off on a weeks tour of Scotland with a wave and we headed for home.

Thanks everyone for a great day out even the weather couldn't spoil
Thanks to Gavin for the initial planning sorry you couldn't make it.

Good run, nice roads/scenery. Some of the roads were a bit of a test for my new Toyo Proxy's which performed well on the damp roads. Ron enjoyed his first outing with the club, and we are both looking forward to the Spring Rally later this week. Nice to meet the Dutch, and talking to Andree. If the Dutch Roadster Club are reading this --- hope you have a great time in Scotland!

Glad you enjoyed the roads, that route up from Langholm is one of my favourites.

Really enjoyed the run in spit of the rain. Good to see the new guys and hope they'll be back on a dryer run. Must apologise - all my photo's are of the ULTIMATE driving machine - could'nt help myself

(yes it should be spite)
The rest of the photo\\\'s later - no more of Z8 - aww.
There must have been a good, million quid of motors sitting in that tiny car park - Superb.
