The Beggars Mantle Run
Sun 17th Jun 2007
organised by Tayside Scotland

Car Count : 9

[ show pre-run info ]

As an increasingly sunny day defied the forecast, the "Jewel in the Beggar's Mantle" Run caused 2 new records for the NSS subarea: for the first time Mark 3's dominated the group ... and not a single red one!

We met at the respectable time of 10.45am at the Tay Road Bridge and headed West along the river, turning south at Newburgh, heading through Auchtermuchty and stopping for a break to admire the magnificent view south from Falkland Hill. Heading down to the East Neuk and, being Fathers' Day, we neatly avoided the pub queues by picnicking at the "Jewel", Ruby Bay in Elie, just in time for the sun to burst through. After lunch we cut back inland and, neatly avoiding 2 Bambi's and a Thumper, Dave led us to a dramatic climax ... straight through the first fairway in front of the St Andrews Royal and Ancient Clubhouse, much to the surprise of the tourists and the Area Coordinator!

We were delighted to welcome Malc on his first run and all the Central members who turned out in force to support us. Special thanks to Dave and Caroline who did us all proud with the complete run package, not only guiding us through great roads in Fife, but also a Treasure Hunt and more strawberries & cream than we could manage.
