Angus run
Sun 15th Apr 2007
organised by Tayside Scotland

Car Count : 13

[ show pre-run info ]

The glorious sunshine shone on another legendary run organised by Tom and Blair, the first North Scotland (South) one of 2007. It proved to be our most successful one so far with an outstanding 13 cars involved if we include an unexpected addition who took up our invitation at lunchtime to join us for part of the the afternoon ... until he wimped out of the crackling pace set by Tom. It was particularly pleasing to see Stevie, Bill and Linda who all came a huge distance to support us and Andy, Ian, Chris, Graeme, Sarah, Alex Senior and Elaine who came along on an NSS run for the first time.
Colin was reminded at the last Pub Night that he'd promised bacon rolls at the start of our run, so a hungry mob gathered for a Bacon Butty and Beverage at his house before heading to the start at a very civilised 11am.
We started with a short morning trip in the blazing sun along tremendous roads (and at least one sand dune) which even seasoned Angus residents said they'd never known existed, and stopped at the Glen Clova car park just long enough to take photos and leave before we got charged 1.50 a car. We then stopped at the Glen Clova Hotel where we were ushered to the executive dining room away from the MG OC to avoid the pitched battle of tyre levers which would have kicked off. After a really tasty lunch where the scheduled timings for the day became just a distant memory, we headed off East and, after risking our necks driving across the A90, stopped briefly in Inverkeillor before arriving back at the Toyota Garage in Dundee.
Thanks to all for their part in a great day. As you'll have seen, the photos I took aren't that great, so I'd be delighted for any to be sent for me for uploading to the site.

Absolute cracker of a day, terrific roads and Glen Clova was outstanding, it should be an annual event. Big thanks to Tom and Blair for the 'run', Colin & Elaine for the bacon butties, coffee (basically a full breakfast):-). Linda and I arrived safely home at 8:30 pm after enjoying the Kildrummy run in reverse on the way home + the Fettercairn to Banchory road. Thanks to all for making it a great day.

Yep, thanks Tom and Blair for a great run and to Colin for his involvement. The meal at the Clova Hotel was excellent too. Chris

Glad everyone enjoyed the run, I was so chuffed so many people came along and had fun. Sorry if the pace got a bit 'spirited' at points, I'll tone down for the next time.  Thanks again everyone for keeping our club on a high. Tom.
