Joint Dealer Night
Thu 9th Nov 2006
organised by Central Scotland

Car Count : Unknown

[ show pre-run info ]

A chance to see the new electric folding hard roofed Roadster was the main attraction for this double event. Altogether 19 cars visited the two Mazda Dealers…SDM in the East and Phoenix in the West. Both dealers laid on a great night, not only staying open late for us, but also supplying drinks and snacks. Everyone got the chance to take the new Roadster CC out for a short test drive and the opportunity to play around with the electric roof. All had a great night and it was refreshing to find two dealers that were not only interested in the cars but keen to forge a relationship with the Club.

What an interesting night! Plenty of MX-5s (and RX-8s) to drool over and compare but the star of the show (the new CC) was fabulous!

Thanks to Gavin, Tom, Rob & Margaret (you know you want te Hard Top) and others for the great company.

A test drive in the Mk III 2.0 sport only whetted my appitite but the price offered for my own car against the CC was very favourable. Trying to persaude Alison we can actually afford it ;-)

What a superb night,I think everyone was shocked when Dom from Phoenix said the keys are in the Roadster Coupe on you go, and so we did , everyone had a test drive and managed to take a passenger along too. Many many thanks to Dom and all the Phoenix staff who so kindly gave up there own time for our benefit.
Thanks also to our 15 members / cars who attended.

Hi, sorry we couldn't make the dealer night, last minute engine trouble. Plans in place to be back on the road asap.Sounded like a great night! Bummer. :-(

Very good night. The early birds (like me) got the chicken tikka wraps mmmm. The tintop was fantastic to drive and made me realise how bone shaking and heavy mines is. I want it I want it. Thanks to Douglas for taking me on a spin up the bye pass (and for pointing out the loss of traction as we came off a roundabout!). All in all a great time

Ronnie

PS Colin I will get your name right next time. lol

Good to put some names to cars..and faces.
Many thanks to SDM for letting me loose in the RX8...sorry about the petrol..had no idea I was away so long in the thing! Should not have told me it revs to over 9,000rpm! Phenominal performance My lad's eyes were out like organ stops! Great display & buffet.

That was a great night last night.
Sales pressure free unaccompanied test drive in a brand new motor like that was memorable.
Debate raged about the styling of the new Mk3 and the older MX5s and continues in our household! Think we both agreed we would have a ragtop over the folding tintop. No arguing with the performance and drivability though..."litres up from our usual 1.6 is quite a step up.

There was a lot of discussion about colour which is a really subjective subject.....I hate that grey that you see so many of the Mk3s in...dull, lifeless and boring. Liked the blue one in the showroom which has been discontinued and we both really liked the colour of the tintop.
Best tip picked up from the night came from Fee who reckons that either Cherry Blossom or Kiwi Wax beats Renovo for titivating your vinyl hood . Anybody else vouch for the effectiveness og boot polishes!

Thanks to all who put this on.

On behalf of all the staff at SDM Mazda I would like to thank all the MX-5 Owners Club members who attended our/your MX5 Owners Club Dealer night.
The members of staff at SDM all enjoyed the evening and it was a pleasure to meet everyone who attended. All I can add is that if in the future, we would be more than glad to be of any assistance to The MX-5 Owners Club

Many thanks to SDM for the evening, shame we'd had tea before we got there! When I grow up I'm going to get an RX8, black with black and red leather and a BLACK AND RED STEERING WHEEL! Want one for the 5! Xmas is coming :)  Shan't part with the 5 though - no chance.  Nice to meet up with you all again, and great to have brakes on the '5'!  Hoping to go up to the West Coast and do Applecross from Tues to Thurs next week - hope the weather's fine! Thanks Gavin
