Killin Run
Sun 8th Oct 2006
organised by Tayside Scotland

Car Count : 8

[ show pre-run info ]

Having studied the skies carefully for the last few days, 7 cars left Dundee feeling a bit chilly but grateful the rain had held off, and Stevie hadn't brought it with him from the West. Alex and Liz made their run debut and I suspect Alex is still trying to prise Liz's fingers from the seatrails as she experienced the "pleasures" of twisties at the brisk pace set by Blair.

We stopped briefly at the official start point in Blairgowrie to pick up Andy (and what was left of Tom's reg plate after he misjudged the parking bay) and headed off to Aberfeldy for a wee break, or a non-wee break as it turned out, before the next leg to Killin where the highlight was when Andy was a real hit with a bird ... a pheasant which won't forget his bumper in a hurry.

We stopped for lunch at the Coach Inn before heading back East through the best roads of the day. As Blair said afterwards, it was just as well the roads were dry as the layers of fallen leaves could have made the tight lanes pretty hazardous had the rain fallen too. And God clearly drives a softtop as the first raindrop fell just as the last car pulled up to end our run at Blairgowrie.

We're delighted that several folk were able to join the NS South posse, making it a truly national convoy, and hope to see the same faces next year when the hardtops come off again.

Finally thanks to Blair and Tom for organising what was a superb route through a great variety of scenery and roads.

Thanks to Colin, Tom and Blair for a lovely day out, fantastic company and great roads. So nice to meet more new people. It's a bit of an anticlimax when you have to drive home yourself after such a day. Thanks again and roll on next spring.
