The Perfect Ten.

Having organised and led a few too many runs this year, it was a great relief when John and Colin agreed to look after what will probably be the last official run of the year.
Although it may seem like poor planning when an event start point is changed a couple of times, in actual fact the exact opposite is the case, such was the meticulous planning both Colin and John put into this run, that when and after recceing the route so many times they became more critical of the road conditions and planned road works which led to the rearranged start points.
A real bright but crisp morning met our ten cars when we assembled at
Chatelherault Park on the outskirts of Hamilton, an impressive location for our meet with the stunning backdrop of Chatelherault House.
With only having the ten cars on this trip it meant we could all leave at the same time, it was also a much more relaxed affair for both the organisers and the other participants. Winding our way through the Clyde Valley before ascending what must be one of the steepest hairpin bends in Central Scotland just outside Crossford, one of those corners where if you lose momentum it felt as if the front end was going to fall back over your head…excellent. Some nice quiet back roads avoiding the centre of Strathaven then over the moors towards Muirkirk before another cross country trip to our lunch venue at Sanquar.
The great thing about smaller numbers means that when your faced with a situation whereby there are just as many raffle prizes as attendees, it becomes the perfect excuse to put all the names in the hat meaning everyone is a winner. The excellent lunch now over, we enjoyed the fine weather outside in the car park and watched the antics of the rather large bull in the adjoining field, which I think was just as bemused by our presence as we were of its.
Back on the road again we crossed the stunning Mennock to Wanlockhead and Leadhills road before turning right onto the notable red road to Elvanfoot, a 30 minute stop in Moffat where we met the red Mk-1 owners, Cecille and Jim whom we had passed earlier in the day. The final part of the run took us up to Biggar and across to Lanark where we finished at Tesco's

A very enjoyable and totally relaxing day, it's been some five or six years since we have been on a run with such a manageable number of cars and I think it gave for a more friendlier atmosphere, many thanks to Colin and John for their commitment in achieving a great route and excellent lunch venue, thanks also to Claire and Heather for their assistance and radio work…ten out of ten.

Big thanks guys, an excellent choice of roads, a great roast beef dinner and a raffle where everyone wins something, a magic day out.(I used to wonder if we should have bought a red car but the looks that bull was giving us has made my mind up)

Many thanks to Colin & John for a brilliant day, Colin leading his first run scored 10/10.
Well done to Claire and Heather for their radio work and Claire's local knowledge was very interesting.

Thanks to everyone for their generosity in supplying so many raffle prizes, I also write this with a glass in my hand.
Solved my noisy wheel problem, turned out the wheel nuts on the only powdercoated alloy had come loose.

We enjoyed meeting with the group for the first  time today at Moffat car park. Read your website and the future activities sound really interesting. Thank you for your warm reception to us newcomers.

Thanks to you all for making yesterday such a good day out. Rachel and I had a great time. It was a real bonus being able to bring home a bottle of brownie points, oops sorry I mean red wine from the raffle. Sorry to keep you all waiting at the start, but I'm sure you'll agree that the roads were worth waiting for! We look forward to more of the same in the new year.
