Considering the weather we had earlier in the week, we could not have asked for more than to wake up to a bright and hot day for the first run of the new North Scotland East and South clubs which meant that Plan A could go ahead, a joint run and BBQ up at Haughton House in Alford. (Just as well, no Plan B!) Lorraine's group from Aberdeen met up with Colin's from Dundee in Banchory, and then on to Alford. There are few finer feelings than being in a convoy of top-down MX-5's sweeping through villages and by the time we lined up our disposable BBQ’s (and one “proper” one), we were up to 14 cars. There were a few fond memories for some of us, of camping in the park as children and the odd hoot from the wee train passing by helped things along.

Given we all drive the same car, there was an amazing variety to them after the modification experts had moved in, and it wasn't long before bonnets went up to show the improvements inside. Although there was an equal variety to the food, from steaks to vegi-kebabs, it was clear that the supermarket burger and sausage counters had done pretty well out of us. And as for the variety in age of the members, from under 10 to ... well, let's just say over 40, but all quite happy to swap stories about their car in particular and life in general.

Thank you very much to everyone who took the time to attend. It was really heartening to see people there who had not been on any club event before. Hopefully you feel it was worth your while to join in. Watch out for photos!

And the quote of the day, an easy winner from Lorraine: "You know the store that Mohamed Al Fayed owns – Halfords"

Great:day out, weather, company, food, drive there and back. You can tell I\'ve not mastered the knack of uploading pics yet-the small ones are mine!

An excellent day driving, sharing company and trying not to burn food to badly.  A real bonus having such great weather.  Thanks to Lorraine and Colin for bringing the two sub-areas together for a fine day out.  The future of North Scotland looks very bright indeed!  Looking forward to meeting up again on 8th October.
