The Dull Run.
12th August 2018

Just got back to the house and it is still raining!
We had 12 cars this year for the run, and this is really a good manageable number for a 130 mile road run.
We started off this morning with tea/coffee and scones all prepared by Bobbie. Donations to Chas (Children’s Hospices) were made and the great sum of £28.05 was raised. Many thanks for all donations.
After leaving Muckhart we all headed north up Glen Devon then up towards Findo Gask and on to Bankfoot for a comfort stop. In the shop there seemed to be an MX5 queue to taste the cheese and fruit samples. They were pretty good!
Onwards then, heading west then north up to Aberfeldy. As we got nearer the lunch stop at Dull it looked as if the sky might be clearing a little and hopes were up for a weather improvement.
Highland Safaris were all ready to cater for us despite our early arrival. As usual the food was great. Following lunch, we ran our usual raffle with prizes donated by members. Despite there being fewer people this year we still raised an amazing £94 for Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance. Very many thanks to all who purchased tickets. However, we were really amazed by the number of tickets bought by the staff of Highland Safaris. A heartfelt thanks to all the staff who took part. The money raised will be part of our annual fund raising for this charity and will be presented to them at a later date. Thank you all!
Highland Safaris have done our catering for this event for 3 years now. We always get a great welcome and we are made most welcome. It is appreciated.
After lunch we headed off via Kenmore and back to Aberfeldy. It was raining again! From Aberfeldy we headed south towards Crieff before detouring via a backroad past the Famous Grouse distillery. After Crieff another backroad to Comrie and then south to finally finish at Dunblane. As well as the rain and lots of puddles, the afternoon run was also hampered by a significant number of cars who, how shall I put this? – drive a little slower than MX5 drivers. However, we all got back to Dunblane, and for several participants a welcome coffee stop. After that we all headed home, for some just a short drive, for others, a longer one!
Once again, many thanks to everyone who turned up despite the weather. Hope you all enjoyed the outing.

Many thanks to Bobbie & Richard for another excellent SOGGY and DULL run. We all kept together and had a very good day. Thanks also to our regular tail gunner Angus who kept us well informed on rear end progress. He even made it to the lunch stop before us - I think he found the Tay ferry running at Grandtully!

Thank you to Bobbie & Richard for organising the run and the delicious scones.  Hopefully the next one will be drier.

A great day out despite being a bit wet. For reference at Grandtully the Tay is narrow enough that providing you get a good run up it is possible to jump the river
