The Borders Run
Sunday 17th September 2017
Meet at 09:45 for a 10:00 departure
East Station Car Park (Beside Sainsbury's),
Google Maps Link to Start Point
Although we are doing some roads included in past years runs, we are approaching from a different route in most cases and hope to give you a different perspective of the Borders and the surrounding hills. Part of the morning route takes us over Scott's View of the Eildon Hills (which will be seen from all angles on the route) and we hope to stop there for a few minutes. We will also have views of other hills such as Ruberslaw, Big Cheviot and the Cheviot Hills as well as monuments such as the Waterloo Memorial at Penielheugh.
Lunch will again be at The Carters Rest, where we had a most enjoyable lunch last year. Menu will be posted as soon as possible and, as before, orders will be taken before we leave Peebles.
The Carters Rest
Homemade soup of the day with crusty bread
Homemade chicken liver pate served with red onion marmalade and Highland oatcakes
Deep-fried breaded haddock with tartare sauce
Homemade beefsteak, button mushroom and ale pie
Roast breast of chicken, wrapped in bacon served with a roast gravy
Homemade vegetable curry accompanied with basmati rice and warm naan bread
Selection of ice cream
2 course £13.00
3 course £15.95
Coffee/tea £1.50 per person
After lunch, we have a great cross country run using part of the Roman road, Dere Street, finishing at Carfraemill, which will be open for hot & cold drinks and toilets.
Any late cancellations or hold-ups, contact 07745 557 971.

Great run today - thanks Gordon & Moira for arrangements. Everyone enjoyed it. Pre lunch mileage certainly tested my fluid retentive staying power. Also welcome to Karen & Molly in the first RF this year on a run - hope you enjoyed our company.

Big thanks to Gordon and Moira another fab run round the borders roads. Lunch venue as usual provided an excellent lunch. Good to see we still attract new members and I hope they enjoyed their first outing. Going to wash some of the borders of the car now.

Had a text from Karen saying they had a really fantastic day on Sunday and she is looking forward to her next outing. Gordon apologised for getting her nice new RF (our first on a run this year) "manky"
19th Sep 2017 19:47 :: Stewart
Add my thanks to Gordon and Moira for organising a great run. Maybe that should be a new limited edition - the MX5 Manky-could be popular in the Borders
19th Sep 2017 21:08 :: Carol @ Evan
Thanks to Moira & Gordon for organising another great run in the Borders. Sat nav worked perfectly when I got separated from the main group for a short while.
19th Sep 2017 21:36 :: Peter & Fiona
Many thanks to Gordon & Moira for a great run in the borders. Even if the car wasn't dirty after the run it would be washed again anyway!!
