Drive it Day at Grampian Transport Museum

We’re offering any visiting clubs discounted admission to the museum – usually this is £9.50 for adults and £7.50 for concessions, but for Drive It Day this will be £5 and £4 respectively.

There’s an exciting range of displays at GTM during this season. Our celebration of the Scottish motor industry will be continuing with ‘Made In Scotland’, which features examples of the famous 3’A’s and the 1970s attempt at an Argyll supercar prototype among others!

We also have a visiting exhibition, Next of Kin, which is providing an insight into the stories of local families during the First World War. This exhibition will be accompanied by ‘Olive’ a First World War Traction Engine, ordered by the wartime Ministry of Supply.

Arguably our most popular 2015 attraction, the one-off Rover SD1 Vitesse will continue to be on display this season. This car was operated in the 1980s by Grampian Police and featured in Channel 4’s ‘For the Love of Cars’.

One of our biggest highlights for 2016 is the fantastic ‘Guy Martin Collection’. Guy has very kindly loaned us some of his personal collection, including a 1943 Rolls Royce Merlin – Spitfire Engine. Along with a Gravity Racer which featured in his popular ‘Speed with Guy Martin’ TV show.

We will also be offering a behind the scenes tour of our Collection Centre, to share the work of our volunteers including our Young Engineers team.

Don’t forget to bring your smart phone or tablet and make use of the museums FREE WiFi!  You can also scan the QR codes for exclusive content including video from British Pathe and numerous photos from the museums vast archives.

We’ll be opening the gates to the museums circuit, which is just off of Stewart Road (opposite the old Vale pub!) from 10am. On arrival you’ll be given a voucher to present at reception to gain discounted entry to the museum.
