After a few cancellations and quite a few worrying moments about our hotel booking, five cars met up and set off from Abington Services. We decided to leave the motorway as soon as possible, so when we reached Penrith Richard led the convoy down the more interesting A6 and over Shap summit where  the weather as per normal turned dismal, at one point the normally impressive wind turbines could only be half seen for the mist. Lunch was taken at the Pheasant Inn near Kirkyby Lonsdale, then it was onwards through some impressive countryside to Lancaster where we rejoined the M6 for an unimpressive motorway slog to our Hotel in Stafford.
We checked in just as Jenny & Jim and Marg & Chris from Tyne Tees were arriving and shortly after Jo & Andy, Jon and Jim from Central Region arrived too.
Evening Dinner was at the local inn.. The Labour in Vain and enjoyed by all before retiring to our hotel bar for the evening, where  we had a few refreshments just to be sociable.
At Breakfast we were joined by our friends from the Netherlands.. Petra & Robin, who were to lead us to Weston Park, simply because they had been to the BBQ the night before.
They said it would be warm today and it was a scorcher, everyone managed to get the parts they wanted  and even some bits they had not realised they wanted.
We handed our fivers to Mack and Jim who had called into Weston on route to Scotland as part of the Charity Run.
Liz and myself were fortunate to win a prize each in the raffle, although we and everyone else had to endure the baking sun while we waited for the draw (what a difference 1 week and a few hundred miles can make)after which we bid farewell to our friends and departed on the long road home.

A good weekend was enjoyed by all with exceptional company.  Thanks to all our members who supported this event.

Would have to agree about the blue tickets! Great time had, and managed to get some of my dents removed. On returning to Edinburgh after a week away I had done 2080km in all! Cheers, Jon
