Crap weather, crap event, crap company, crap hotel and worst of all driving crap cars, what more can I say apart from the whole weekend start to finish was crap!!!

As you've probably guessed by now I'm talking a load of...Bull****, It was indeed a wonderful weekend in all of the above departments.
Rather than take two cars down to Lincolnshire, Stevie and I decided we would take one...his, which meant I got to have a wee play in the Mk-3 or an extended 200 mile road test.
We met up with Kev in his extremely highly polished black Mk-2 (I'm convinced he is a secret funeral director) at Abington, then the boring bits down the M6, across the A66 and down the M/A1, although this proved to be interesting when we reached Castleford when both Sat Nav's were totally flummoxed and the 2006 Atlas that the wise old navigator decided to bring, rescued the convoy by indicating a newly opened section of the M1. Across and down, zig and zag, seemed to be our route taking us to Lincolnshire where Kev dropped off to meet with some friends at the Showground Campsite. Stevie and I continued to the Bentley Hotel and before long we were sitting in the lounge enjoying the company of the Yorkshire Riddings crew.
Although we had chosen not to partake in the official dinner we both had a first class meal in the Hotel's Restaurant, gradually Miranda & Alan. Mino & Dinaz and Gavin joined us and an enjoyable social evening in the lounge was had by all.

Sunday morning and the Hotel car park was a hive of activity, I don't think I've ever seen so many collapsible wash buckets in one place. The Rally itself was set in the Lincolnshire Showground, a venue that was perfect for the occasion. Lots of things to do or see although the absence of some of the larger traders was a bit disappointing but the Spitfire flying over the field was truly brilliant and inspirational. Mazda UK were there with the new CC model and the staff had their work cut out trying to keep everyone happy. A bite to eat from the 'Hog Roast' catering unit, another wander round all the cars and before long it was time to head for home.

Despite the fact that Moss and Mx5 Parts were unable to attend, the day was a huge success, the weather was glorious all day and the Spitfire touched the hearts of many, the Showground was a superb venue, bring on Beamish with Tyne Tees in May 2007.

You had me going there with that opening line !!!!

Thought i'd need the crash helmet on before reading the rest of it.

Looks like a cracking day.

Had a great time.  Highlight for me was playing 'pitch dark' frisbee with a self illuminated frisbee.  Several bottled of beer were consumed at the campsite before retiring to the tent at around 2am.  Didn't actually get to sleep until 4am though thanks to the ongoing discussion of some NEM and Eastern Region (they really do have more fun) members. The day itself was as good as any rally I've ever been to but the trade stands were a bit disappointing.  Roll on next year......
