The Dulsie Bridge Trip (Plan B)

On a chilly and overcast Sunday morning on 20th March eight cars with 15 MX5 Club members met in the picturesque car park of Sainsbury’s supermarket in Nairn. Bound for Fort Augustus, at the southern end of Loch Ness, the convoy wound is way down country roads to Daviot and breakfast at the Dairy restaurant, where everyone was well looked after with tea and coffee on the table for self help. Meals, pre ordered at Nairn, were soon served; all well presented and tasty. The Dairy was a good find.
Then, it was out to the A9 for about half a mile where the party turned right on to the B851 to Fort Augustus. A “photo call” was made before the descent down to Fort Augustus, with stunning views a far as the eye could see.
Once in Fort Augustus parking was easy with ample spaces in the local car park. It was then just a short walk to Caledonian Canal to meet up with a boat for a one hour cruise on Loch Ness. All members of the party kept their eyes open for a glimpse of the famous monster. Several sightings were reported and photographic evidence has appeared on Face book to support various claims.
Then it was off to the Boat House restaurant on the southern bank of the loch for lunch and a stunning view northward towards Inverness. Once back in the cars it was homeward bound via Foyers and Dores to another Supermarket car park, this time in Inverness. Not wanting to favour one Supermarket over another the car park at Tesco was selected on this occasion. Well fed, and with memories of possible “Nessie” sightings, everyone said farewell until the next trip, when rumours of a Lake District beast will be investigated.
