Motormania  2015, Grantown-On-Spey
The sun shone all day, the roofs remained down (even after dark), the show was really busy and everybody was happy! Despite not officially starting until Midday the Show looked like it was already in full swing when we arrived at 11am.  Maybe next year we (or I?) should plan to arrive a little earlier.
Everybody mucked in to set up the flags, display board and shelter, and soon the space allocated was very clearly the MX5 Club stand.  Where exactly the next four hours went I am not entirely sure, but I remember checking my watch and seeing 3.50pm and just couldn’t believe it. Many hands once again packed everything away and soon we were back in Greg & Jean’s garage putting everything away. Many thanks to them for letting us store our promotional material over the weekend, and special thanks to Greg for his efforts on getting the Club back into the show. I also had the pleasure to meet up with Duncan who is one of the main show organisers – and a nicer man you would struggle to meet (he drives a Mark 1 y’know).
It would not be a HI-5 event without discussing the catering arrangements.  Wendy’s hospitality was greatly appreciated by all – with special mention to the scones.  Alix & John were also doing an excellent job keeping us all topped up with tea & coffee on the stand.
We also had a few folk across from Grampian and even a couple from Central – who were certainly keen to come back next year.  It was also nice to meet new members Jane & John (as compared to Jane & Jon who came along on the Kinlochleven run),we hope to see them all again soon.It hadn’t been obvious to me before, but these events are very good indeed if you are trying to sell a car. If we have a similar restriction on car numbers next year then we need to give priority to those members actively trying to sell a car – as I was very pleasantly surprised how much attention my Mark 3 got during the day.
A quick trip up to Wendy’s to get a final answer to the ‘Has She – or Hasn’t She? question - she had!! Wendy then led us off in her new Ceramic Mark 4 on a really great run which ended up in Forres about an hour later. It was a lovely evening for a drive – and driving around all the ‘Roads Closed Signs’ just added to the experience.
We were soon at ‘The Mosset’ In Forres where we all tucked into a hearty dinner. All too soon it was time to say our cheerio’s and head off home again. Great day – thanks to all who participated.
