Glencoe & Kinlochleven
Sun 16th Aug 2015 to Sun 16th Aug 2015
organised by Highland Scotland

Car Count : Unknown
[ show pre-run info ]

7 cars with one car being protential new members Jane & Jon assembled at Highland Council HQ  on a rare sunny Sunday morning.
"The magnificent  seven" moved out onto the A82 bound for Spean Bridge and drove down the twisty MX5 road that is Loch Ness, in no time we were ahead of shedule and in Ft Augustus where we had a wee pit stop.
Off down the road we went driving our MX5s as they were built for again arriving at what used to be the "Little Chef" only to be told there was no room at the inn, so after some discussion  we regrouped at the Spean bridge Woollen Mill, unfortunately  we lost  Alix and John but a quick call out on the CB and we were all once again reunited  along with car 8 Stuart.
A wee competition  was organised  with everyone having to guess the mileage  for the run from Spean Bridge to our dinner venue at Ballachulish this was won by Charles who received the club mascot teddy key ring.
I think Dorothy going by her guess thought we were on next years Lake District trip lol!
Anyway 8 cars set off for Kinlochleven  with the weather  getting increasingly  cloudier with a few spots  of rain ,of course in true HI-5s spirit the roofs stayed down.
After a short stop in Kinlochleven we headed to Glencoe and on to the "White Corries chair lift" for a spot of lunch and for some, a ride up the chair lift and down. The views  over "Rannoch Moor" and "Glencoe "were absolutely  fantastic .
Setting off again it was plain to see that the weather  was drastically improving to the point the sun burst out of the clouds. This continued  for the rest of the day as we headed over "Rannoch  Moor" to "Glen Orchy"
Heading  up the single track road through Glen Orchy in the brilliant sunshine following the river beside the road was, I think, the highlight of the trip even though it couldn't  be driven MX5 style.
We then travelled up past Loch Awe to Connel and from there to our dinner stop at the "Loch Leven Hotel" Ballachulish  (competition mileage 122). Stuart  left us at this point to head home to Aberdeen so once again we were 7. After dinner we said our goodbyes to Wendy who would be branching of at Spean Bridge.
6 cars then headed to Drumnadrochit were we said our goodbyes to each other and headed our separate ways.

A big thanks to all that attended this trip, its you Guys that make these trips worthwhile and enjoyable.
