No worries there mate, I bought my 91 V Special from Steve in March '15. I've since spent a further fortune on upgrades/mods - beware, it's addictive.

Good to hear from an owner of a car sourced from Steve, had a look at the photos of your V Special looks great in black and tan

I am also aware that the after market parts surrounding these cars could well be my downfall!

How is the induction working out for you

What's the current status of importing cars from Japan? Is it still a fairly simple and cost effective way of getting a good condition car?

If your car is a 1990, just check if it's a short nose crank or not.

I haven't actually fitted the induction yet :D - the car is currently sitting partly stripped in my garage - radiator off, all aircon removed, induction stuff removed.

Going to order silicon coolant pipes then reassmble - wanted to junk aircon and get everything cleaned up as I have an annoying oil leak I need to diagnose.

Car will be sorned at the end of this month until early April when I plan to get MOT'ed and back on the road.

So by then I need to get the induction kit fitted, and some tyres on my new wheels i've had sitting since October last year.

Good luck with the mods

Will be interested to hear how you get on and at least you will have the car back on the road for spring/summer

As for importing cars from Japan I know a couple of guys that have done this ok

I have chosen to go through a trader, Goodwood Sports cars, and accepted that I will pay a bit extra in the plan that it will be problem free and the car sourced will be a good solid example I can keep and enjoy for many years.

As for short and long nose cranks! quick google and now added to my list of things to worry about

sometimes ignorance is bliss
