Lost time on Nav

Postby iain cooper » Sun Sep 20, 2015 9:16 am

My nav had lost the time yesterday when I started off.

I had to reset it once I fathomed out how to do it ! First time this has happened in two years.

Anyone else had this happen? and is it a symptom of something?

the sat nav now keeps rebooting itself, won't even switch off with the power button.

flashes message "lost GPS signal 5 seconds ago" before rebooting.

I thought there might be a reset procedure?

any ideas? (2013 sport graphite)

Iain,
I also have a 13 plate sport graphite and my satnav occasionally stops displaying the correct time. I have had no other issues with it to date.
I have consulted chief engineer Scotty and he advises just re-entering correct time. Fairly easy as I just tell the good lady passenger to do it. I must admit I have only had to do this on about 3 occasions so far.
It must be a peculiarity with this model of unit.

Iain,

At least it should still be under warranty. They might replace it with the model fitted in the 25th anniversary model which I understand is better than that fitted to the sport graphite. Let us know how you get on.

ps just read on another forum that the "troublesome" tom tom unit has been replaced with an Alpine unit on later cars.

satnav replaced today, but with exact same tom tom unit :(
(I was hoping for the later alpine unit which is deemed to be more reliable)

only difference I can see so far is that when you put the car into reverse it flashes up with a message to be aware of your surroundings.

unfortunately I have another problem which is the passenger seat belt warning which keeps beeping, and they have diagnosed it as the sensor under the passenger seat, but this will take a day to replace, seat to come out, etc :(
