MK4 Time

Postby IanH » Sat Sep 12, 2015 5:09 pm

Picked it up today, as you might imagine the smile is wide, we put a quick 50 miles on it to check all is in order before the weather broke and the current storm that's raging outside decided to dump on us... It's in the Garage for now, plenty of time to enjoy it coming up, holidays to the North West Highlands in just over a week... :)

You can see the Batmobile in the background going as a trade in.

Very nice. Lovely colour, works well with the high gloss black alloys.

Would definitely be up for that, I was thinking about doing one myself at the usual grain store location though that may be harder at the moment as it's filling it up time, might pop up this evening to assess, will need to wash it before an actual shoot though.

Excellent, sounds like a plan, I'm away until the 8th but can sort something out once I'm back? Maybe the grain store will have quietened down by then?

I'm hardly around here these days because I (currently?) no longer have a 5. However, I've seen Mr H. out and about a few times over the last few days in his shiny new Mk4 so I thought I'd drop in to see if there was a post about it. ;)

It looks great in the pictures and even better in the "flesh". Very nice car Ian. Very nice indeed. :D

Thanks Enjay, package wise it's a lot of fun, feel free to pop in if you'd like a closer look.

Theres one on display at border cars Ayr had a look and really like it , cant understand why they have reverted to soft top , hard top was great option with less road noise too

The powered hardtop is not available on the Mk4.

There are suggestions that a powered hardtop may be available in the future but Mazda have not given a date for it's introduction nor any details of the car.

Thanks Eddie, never had a soft top, but may consider it after some research.

Do owners chose the soft top as a preference rather than cost? and if so why?

I take it the 2 litre is available?

Ian, I've had a soft top then the hard top and I actually preferred the soft top. Far quicker to get up and down and you don't even have to be stopped to do it, unlike the hardtop. I have the mk4 now and love it. The 1.5 engine was apparently made for the car and the 2lt for the American market. They like things bigger but that doesn't make it better. I have a garage now though so the soft top option is not a problem.

thanks for reply, the soft top is faster than the power hard top, but that is not an issue for me.

I can think of a few pluses for the hard top, such as quietness, security, etc

What makes owners buy a soft top over a power hard top other than cost?
