MoT fail - ARB links - replacement advice

Postby CaptainNorth » Fri Sep 04, 2015 1:39 pm

Hi Guys,

Offside front ARB is fractured, I don't really want the local garage to do the work, how difficult is it to do?

I was thinking I might as well do both sides, perhaps with aftermarket links.

Does the geometry need to be reset afterwards?

Any thoughts or advice appreciated.

Cheers

Thanks Eddie, that's a generous offer I'd like to take you up on!

I was thinking of getting a front pair of these ones from IL Motorsport as they seem a decent brand and are much cheaper than OEM

Thanks yes I'd heard that too. There are loads of after market options as well but cash is tight just now so I'm going to keep it simple :D

Indeed.
Our Sport is on it's 3rd set including the originals, then OEM replacements 3 years back which wilted & now on a set of pattern ones ( German I think) that my garage sourced from Europarts. They are like new..so far.

Was thinking about that nice to get some pictures for future reference.

So far this week looks like

Working Aberdeen Monday and Tuesday not sure about Wednesday.

Shed getting delivered Thursday as the ride on is not wanted in either garage.

Friday may be undersealing parts of a Mk1 and doing the dreaded rear cam sensor O ring.

Saturday or Sunday doing Dave's MK3 front droplinks about an hour or so, come down whenever Joan is doing Scones again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That Stuart got Scones on Saturday, they are never made for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Will see how the week progresses and hope the car does arrive on Saturday, if it does then a definite possibility.

Hi Eddie,

Just to let you know I got impatient looking at the new drop link and fitted it so won't need to take your time on Sunday. Mid you if there's an ND and scones.....:-)

I couldn't find an NC torque setting so went for 40 Nm. Sound OK?

Cheers
