New Mk 3 Owner Aberdeenshire

Postby CaptainNorth » Fri Oct 24, 2014 4:53 pm

Hi Folks,

Been in to cars a long time and have had a couple of two seaters, a Mk1 and a VX220 turbo. Time for one again so got hold of this 06 Mk3 with 24K on the clock. Really enjoying driving it :D. Not planning many mods, added a Racing beat backbox for a bit of soundtrack and a Pipercross filter and might fit 30mm Eibachs and a bit of bling :D .

Any meets planned for November? Be good to meet some other enthusiasts!

Cheers

Before you put on bling and noisy stuff.

Take the indicator lights off at the back of the front wings and check for rust inside the wing.

If you intend to keep the car get it undersealed most MK3's of that age are starting to rust a bit underneath.

If you tend to change your cars quite often then do not bother with the underseal and get on with the bling and noisy stuff.

Enjoy your car.

there is a run on Saturday and in Novemner have a look at the front page of the website under Grampian.

Hi, thanks for the welcome. Too late the box is already on, but the bling can wait! I'd actually like to reduce the shiny stuff by replacing the chrome fuel cap with a body coloured one.

Yeah I did my research and found a well kept car from Englandshire. Even so there is rust I've spent as much time underneath it as I have driving it! I'll chip away over the the winter (once the salt is down I run a Citroen C1) but for now I'm making good any missing bits of underseal, wire brushing, painting and sealing and the Dinitrol has arrived to do the cavities. Also did a touch up in a couple of places on the aluminium boot and bonnet.

Cheers for the pointer, can't do this Sat but will keep an eye for Nov dates.
