Hi folks,

Not got a 5 yet, have joined to read over advice - check out for sales - and hopefully by easter will have my hands on a crackin wee 2 seater.

Lookin for either a MK1 or Mk2 s-vt or 1.8 sport, so if you know where I can look at a good one feel free to point me in the right direction.

As for now, I'm off to trawl the net again and read up on rust proofing!

Al.

Hi Al,

what sort of use do you plan for your mx5 ? scenic drives with the mrs, the daily commute, blasting round the twisties, trackdays, hillclimbs and sprints etc what is suitable for one purpose may be far from suitable for another - my 5 is a hoot on track but mrs gm won't even get in as a passenger !

good luck with your search, Easter is a long way off, now is the time to bag a bargain.

Hi Al,
Welcome to the forum.
Hope you don't have to use too much rust proofing - driving an MX5 is much better than repairing one.

Thanks for the welcomes,

Just looking for something to travel back and forth to work with and have the odd trip with her indoors, got a Mazda 6 MPS at the moment which will be getting put up for sale very soon and replaced with a mile muncher (more than likely a VW Passat Estate) for summer drives to France with the family.

So, rather than give up on fun driving altogether I'm thinking get a 5 - ideally a Mk1 s-special (black) with BBS alloys!

Picky ain't I?

:)

It took just over a month more than I expected but I am now the excited new owner of a standard 1.6 Eunos - pick it up this Saturday! :D

So i'll no doubt be throwing some questions out there soon now, car needs a couple of bits tidied up but crucially is good and solid.
3 days to clear a space in my garage then spend some summer fun with the hood down cruising up to Anstruther for a fish supper with my long suffering wife.

Look forward to talking to you all more orften and meeting up for a pub lunch sometime.

Cheers guys,

Just been out to buy a big tin of engine Gunk and now doing some online shopping for vinyl roof restorer/protection - I'm thinking Renovo?

Do Renovo do products for VINYL? I used their products for my Mohair roof, very good.

Yeah, got some from fleabay - actually worked out to be very reasonable and free delivery.
