No car

Postby derekb » Thu Sep 25, 2014 10:50 pm

I don't have a MX 5, My wife say's it would be an idea if tried to get in one first, me, not being as bendy as I used to be 'co's i'm 71 are there any members out there who have had a lots and lots of birthdays. Or is there a kind person who resides in the Stanley, Perth area of Scotland, would let me have a sit in theirs, is that a bit cheeky.
If that was a success then I will be looking to buy, If not then I am on the lookout for convertible Zimmer.

Hi Derek

I'm in Scone and could let you have a seat in Mark 1. Only day this weekend would be Saturday early afternoon though.

Let me know what you think.

Davie.

Here's one that might be of interest, if you decide to bite the bullet:

Looks like a decent deal for a 30k miler with hardtop.

Good luck!

Get my Yellow 2001 California 5 Saturday, as can be expected some bubbling on wheel arches an some dull paintwork, hopefully T Cut will sort that out, happy with deal, and happier now I have got the car. I am spending some time in Perth so can anyone recommend a body shop or some competent person who can sort out the wheel arches. I think I can get away with filling, which I am confidant I can do myself, but not sure about spraying. sensible suggestions welcome.

Nice one Derek :D

There's a bodyshop in Stanley, Iain Ross, that could probably do the work for you. I haven't used him but he's been on the go a good few years so can't be bad at his job.

If you do some filling and then get the arches painted, budget for doing it every three months as the rust is comming through from the inside.

The only cure is replacing the half rear wings at a cost of £400 a side after buying the part wings, fitting and painting.

Yes I had that done on my MK2 and the MK1 is the same .

many thanks much appreciated. I have all tools needed but never tackled car wings before, sills are almost good, the arch is a bit flaky on the rear, Front arches are bubbly.
