first timer from Clackmannanshire

Postby willow » Mon Aug 05, 2013 6:04 pm

Hi Everyone!

Ok, first time ever posting anything anywhere on the net, so here goes...

...I am awaiting the arrival of my brand new MX5. It won't be here till September :? but all good things come to those who wait so I'm told, so that's just what I'll have to do. Though the wait is killing me, the information on here about your trips out and the pictures of everyone with their cars, is helping to keep me from going insane.

I will probably be quite a boring member as I have absolutely no intention of changing anything on my car, I think I'll just try it out and enjoy it just as it is. I do, however, love to hear what everyone else has done to their cars, the joys and tribulations of owning an MX5, whatever its age.

This is my 'forever' car...I hope. I never thought that I would ever own one, and now that it is becoming a reality, I don't ever want to let it go.

It is great to be able to share a passion you have with like-minded people, so keep posting everyone and help me to endure the wait of the arrival of my 'forever' car :D

Thanks for reading my splurge

Willow

Willow welcome to the forum.

If it is a for ever car the rust proofing by Mazda is not good so budget £200 to get it undersealed and if possible as soon as you get it otherwise it needs to be cleaned before it is done. So nearer £300.

You will enjoy your MX5.

Hi Eddie

Thank you for the advice, I will certainly take that into account.

Is there anywhere in particular you would recommend I should visit to get this done or will any garage provide this service?

Thanks in advance

Hi Willow welcome to the forum. The long wait will be worth it in the end, I'd also put money on at least a few subtle modifications being made to your car in time, you wont be able to resist it.

Hope to see you out on one of our runs soon, I'm sure you'll be made very welcome.

Someone from your area can maybe advise a good underseal company in the central belt.

Sorry we are near Aberdeen.

No worries, thanks for the advice just the same. May be taking a few regular trips up to Aberdeen over the next few years, if the exam results for youngest daughter are what she is hoping for. If so, I'll be looking for some advice on good roads to take the daughter and mx5 when I visit

Hello Robert and Lesley

Thank you very much for the welcome. The Kuro is a lovely edition, I've just been checking it out on the net. It would be lovely to see it in the flesh so to speak. I hope we get to meet on one of runs.

I haven't even got the car yet and I'm grinning like a cheshire cat!!

Willow :)

Hi Dax :) Thank you very much.

Can I ask though, 2 MX5s in less than a year? What happened? Or do you still have them both? Or is it a case of can't get enough?! :)

Willow

P.S. Thank you for the compliments on my posting. It is definitely all my own work, but considering I am in the IT industry as a job, I should hope I am doing an ok. Just copying you guys really, so you're complimenting your own work really ! :D

I bought a 97 mk1 in October last year and i liked it so much that i wanted a newer one, i wanted a 2.5 but was a bit put off by the rust problems, so i went for a mk 3, still thing the 2.5 is the nices looking model though they are all great and i might but a nice well fettled mk1 some day 8)
