Gullane Games Day

Postby graeme » Mon Jul 12, 2004 8:52 pm

Saturday 7th August, Treasure Hunt and Gullane Games

Instead of the usual "run", the day will start with a treasure hunt,
departing from Tesco's at Dalkeith. The hunt will lead you to Gullane,
where we have been invited once again to display our cars at the local
games day. The games were highly enjoyed by those who attended last
year, so come along and have a fun and relaxing day. Also our "best in
region" trophy will be awarded on the day.

Regarding the "Best car in region" trophy, we were thinking of giving voting slips to members of the public at the Games Day. Since we use only the criteria that the car you vote for should be "the car you think is the best (and which isn't your own)", I don't see a problem with letting Joe Public vote for the best as well as members, but I'll await any objections.
What do you think?

I think opening up to the public would make it more interesting. Go for it!!

10am at Tesco, Eskbank.
To get there, follow the A720 Edinburgh City Bypass until you reach Gilmerton Junction (all junction signs have the name above them). Go up the slip road and turn right. (Be careful at the top because the view of the road to the right isn't great and stuff tends to fly along there). Cross the bridge over the carriageway and take the first left.
Go past the garden centre and take the third exit at the roundabout.
Second exit (ie straight across) at the next (golf driving range is on your right) and head down the long straight to the next, where you want the left lane and take the second exit into Tesco car park.

Alternatively, follow the Bypass to Sherriffhall roundabout, follow the signs for the A7 south and go across the first 2 roundabouts and 2nd left at the third. The first way is quicker, that's all.

Postby CharlesK » Sun Aug 01, 2004 10:30 pm

Andy

Hopefully we will be there but not too sure at present.

If we can get there on Saturday will arrange to meet up and head through together - we will be in touch later in the week- Depending on where you stay in Livingston we can either meet at Deer Park Travel Lodge and go on the M8 or Lizzie Brice petrol station and go along the A71

Lunch

Postby graeme » Wed Aug 04, 2004 9:02 pm

Should have mentioned that the opportunities for lunch in Gullane on that day are somewhat limited. It may be best to bring a picnic with you.

Gullane Games & Treaure Hunt

Postby Zoom Zoom » Thu Aug 05, 2004 12:30 pm

Looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible on Saturday. We have a mention on the various posters around Gullane, so they know we are coming! The weather forcast is looking good as well! As previously mentioned, there is no organised lunch, so it would be a good idea to bring some sandwiches etc, and a rug/folding chair would also be useful. Cheers, Jon. PS. Please try to arrive at Tesco's for 10:00am as we will be setting cars off on the treasure hunt at set intervals - Thanks.
