Now in the diary. What is the charge for the non-competitive members of the party?

Or do photographers get in for free?

Thanks Helen, I know what you mean, but you answered my implied question anyway. How many do we need?

We are looking for min 20 and we can take max 30.

(for anyone considering - we're being offered a good deal. Deeside Activity Park usually charge £35 for an hour karting - and we are being offered 2 hours for £25 per head) 8)

Event Cancelled

Postby HelenM » Sun Jul 05, 2009 3:05 pm

Very sorry to everyone who signed up for this event, but we've taken the decision to cancel, to give reasonable notice to Deeside Activity Park. Having booked this for middle of the holidays there are many who are not able to join in. With 15 karting we were rather short of the 20 required for the package and price we were offered, and a few more short for the ideal number of 24.

If we decide to try again with this event again next year, we'll avoid the summer holidays!

Shame you didn't come back to the NSS area. Knowing that priority was going to the NSE area initially, we were waiting for you to invite names from us and I'd have tried to put together a few names to come up ...

... might have brought you up to the required 20+ names.
Cheers

Helen,

Real shame to see this suddenly cancelled. With no cut-off date for numbers or warning of needing more so the likes of Colin's group and a few others I know were considing the event could well have made it comfortable on numbers, as well as any last minute takers. :? Good to see that it will be on next year.

With no cut-off date for numbers

The original post gave a cut off date for local NSE members, the subsequent edited post made it clear that it was now open to all.

The general lack of people actually positively indicating that they would come instead of waiting to be asked in the intervening period strongly suggested that the numbers would not be reached.

Ok, I'm putting my "boss" hat on now

This event may or may not be an official event next year. This will be decided at the planning meeting at the start of 2010.

I don't anticipate having to book in days that are deemed suitable as advance warning days for notification that something will be cancelled. Surely having to cancel something would indicate the possibility that an unforseen circumstance has arisen.

Open to all generally means open to all, unless of course there is an age or height restriction.

Helen did ask for names to be PM'd to her and a list of those interested was placed on this thread. If people intend to come to an event but can't be bothered to let the organiser know then maybe if the event is cancelled the interested party won't mind seeing as they didn't say they were going anyway.

I don't recall being issued with a crystal ball along with my AC pack but should I be invited to send a question to the AGM I'll be sure to have it added to the agenda! I might need to make that 3 balls seeing as we have the stirling efforts from Ian and Helen to thank for keeping things ticking over while I take a back seat.

I feel much better for my wee rant, thank you for listening.

Mods, feel free to delete this entry if it offends but sometimes you feel like you just can't win and have to vent the old spleen.

First, I'd like to make it clear to Helen my last comment was one of regret, not criticism. I've organised enought OC events to know what problems are caused by folk not committing themselves until the last minute.

I think we simply have a case of communication breakdown. I was delighted to receive an e-mail on June 14th inviting the NSS area to take part, but indicating that priority was to be given to NSE members until the end of June.

I didn't check this thread until a few days into July when I had received no further email, so wanted to check what the latest story was.

As I say, no criticism intended. Looking forward to whopping yo asses in 2010.
Cheers
