Naming Your Car

Postby sarahlc » Sun Mar 01, 2009 12:47 pm

Being thinking about naming my car for some time now and I have finally decided that she should be called Annabelle :D

So how many of you have named your car?
And what what name have you given it?

I've never felt the need to name my car (unless it won't start of course  ), but my daughter has decided that the 5 is called "Louise" and the Megane "Sheep"

Gina. Not short for Georgina, but the sound-alike Japanese name that, apparently, means "silvery".

I know what you mean, I never felt the need to name any of my previous cars. I think that its because the 5 has so much more character than other cars.

All my cars have been named Suzi (after the girl in my favourite Blue Oyster Cult song, "Astronomy"...)

Mmmmm. My wife names her cars  , I call mine the car or the Mazda because that's what it is.

Call me an old fashioned guy but I've always thought it was a bit girly naming a car, but hey, thats just me.

1st one, the red mk1 was 'Mazie'......Yawn (wife's idea).
Green, and much missed long serving imported mk1 was 'JJ'. Reg based.
10AE was 'chaz', again reg based.
Current 5 is kinda STU, or sometimes STUKK.

Can't think why???

Never really named my cars before, they just make you want to, kinda get under the skin... and become part of the family so to speak.

Hi Mike ,

Been meaning to ask for a wee while :offtopic2: how did you get on with the Larini back box and are you still running with it?

I was going to go for the Larini for the Mk 3 but they've kind of out priced themselves now IMHO. Now running a IL motorsport box which is pretty damn good.

Steve.

My parents have a sort of tradition for naming the family cars. Some of which aren't very imaginative.

Little White Car (White Peugeot 205 - a 200,000 mile heirloom that I wrote off)
Blue Car (blue Peugeot Estate)
ONK (Turquoise Peugeot Estate - registration based name to distinguish it from above)
Silver (father's current Audi)
Bongmobile (Mother's Saab - because it likes to say 'bong'. A lot.)

They also have a Land Rover which lives away from home which I like to call 'The West-Highland Rover' because it always seems to be full of wood chippings, fish boxes, sand and always seems to have a bottle of SS Politician-esque whisky in it somewhere.

I had a Citroen BX which I called 'The Weapon', because it was fast and pointy.

My current cars don't have names.
