Newtonmore to Spean Bridge

What a great little road.......drove it recently in the "other" car. Quiet (might be a different story in the summer) unspoiled some great scenery and a few nice twisty bits thrown in...........will be back in the summer with the 5

What a great little road...

You're not wrong.

I used to live in Aberdeen and have reason to travel from there to a place near Mallaig perhaps 5 or 6 times a year. It was splendid.

The bit between Spean Bridge and Fort William ate my car once though.

I'm planning a weekend run to the west coast and was going to be heading north before we go west. Looks like a good addition to the route.
Will show you the plan on Sunday.

I did this road on 1st Aug 09 on my Moto Guzzi Cali 1100, or at least I tried to. Lost it on a right hander at Loch Lagan, I think, and wrote the bike off.
Replacement was vetoed by SWMBO, hence the MX5, so I have mixed feelings about this road.
Will try it in the "5" soon.

A nice stretch of road. I've holidayed in the area (Ardverikie Estate as in Monarch of the Glen) for a number of years and never tire of it. I does become much busier in summer (from May onwards) and many tour buses use it.

Pram, is your planned run going to be a NSE run?

LOL - we towed our ancient caravan along that road last summer after our holiday on Mull - not quite the same experience as yours! And I´ll bet you were glad not to be behind us. 8)

Lots of 5 fun many times in the last 10 years on that road - I have some pics of the original NS Scotland club outing to Skye in Apr 99, stopped along there - 10 cars I think including (at that time) one of the new Mk2s!

Just scanned some in for you, our car / wife's car is the Gleneagles, wife is driving it in the one pic where it is at the front, now need to get back to work...

P.S. Can anyone spot their own car? One of the cars still has the same owner, but had a new engine after this trip.

You need to upload them to somewhere like Photobucket then paste your links into the pots using the [img] button above the text box and then the 'Close tags' at the end of the image URL.
