Three P's Impromptu Run

Picnic, Putting and Portpatrick.
Shaun aka Lochpark, Has kindly offered to organise a run taking in Ayrshire and Dumfries & Galloway on the 7th August. This run hopefully will attract the many Ayrshire members that sometimes can't make the Central Runs because of the distances involved. Shaun will give us more details but from what he has planned it looks like it will be a very relaxed and enjoyable fun day.

Sounds great Shaun, only been there to work and had no time to take in the scenery. Wife and daughter fighting right now, but black eyes and bruises should have healed by then for the winner to come along :lol:

For anyone attending the Three P's Run next week, especially if travelling south towards Ayr on the A77, the establishment has seen fit to install a network of 40 "Specs" Speed Cameras on the A77

and between Kilmarnock and the turn off for Burns Cottage you will pass up to 6 of these "yellow vultures". :cry:

The run itself will leave Ayr along the coast following the A719 towards Girvan where we will rejoin the A77 and again will pass through sevaerl sections as we head towards Ballantrae.

Came across these things the other week, it would seem that they work out your average speed between the various locations. Due to traffic congestion the day I was on the road my average was probably less than 30 mph.

There has been a lot of accidents on this stretch of road due I think to the fact that the road changes from Dual Carriageway to single carriageway and the speed limits change a number of times.

Apologies to anyone attending the run, I prepared the route and sent it to Douglas as a PDF file which unfortunately he can't upload to the forum, therfore I will hand out copies of the route on Sunday morning :oops:

The easiest way to get to Burns Cottage if you haven't been before is to go round the A77 Ayr Bypass and follow the signs for Stranraer.

At the roundabout (Junction of the A77 and A713) keep following the A77, in approx 1 mile turn right onto the A719 (Doonholm Road) signposted Burns Heritage Centre (big brown sign).

At the T junction in .9 of a mile, turn left and then first right.

Entry to the car park is first right again. (Special note for Tom - car park does not open til 9.30 :lol:

An excellent day out in the Ayrshire and Galloway sunshine during which we had a raffle and raised ?50.00 which was donated on behalf of the OC to the RNLI.

Douglas presenting the proceeds of the raffle to Robert Erskine, the Coxwain of the Portpatrick Lifeboat.

Davie Lodge won the Putting competition with a very respectable score of 45

Anyway, 5's don't break down so you'll never need it! Unless your me of course that is! It's away getting fixed tonight but not sure when it'll be back, leak from the water pump gasket which was just replaced. :cry:

It's ok Fee! I didn't have a flippin clue what it meant either!
But now I do and I feel much better!
Just for the record - I actually picked the prize of the warning triangle but am now beginning to wish I'd gone for the bottle of wine

Only kidding! I am very happy with my choice

You mean there are actually 5's about without a supercharger ? I thought they were standard

Problem is you get too used to it - I had a Celica as a hire car in the US a few weeks ago and it felt slooowwww.
